Fantastic PhD Companion
As I await the start date of my PhD, this book has answered my endless questions which pop up weekly as the start date nears! An incredibly easy read (nothing like academic articles) and I feel properly prepared for the task as well as defiantly determined to begin- and complete- my study.

Good guide. I feel better informed and I'm pleased I read it.
Each 'how to write a PhD' books takes a slightly different angle. This one covers the process of what's required for the PhD and how to think about it, and manages to keep it interesting. The author has a positive (you-can-do-this) attitude, while at the same time pointing out common pitfalls and giving examples. For instance, How original do you need to be? What is your supervisor expecting in meetings, and How to avoid getting an MPhil? I found it very insightful and it has helped me to understand better the academic structure, and the kind of projects that universities want us to produce, in order to pass.
