**Q: What is the hole size and how far apart are the holes.  Will it fill with ashes?**
A: The holes are about 1/8 of an inch, but the directions tell you to face them horizontally towards the back of the fireplace. The flames go up, but the holes should not fill with ash.

**Q: just making sure but this is to be placed under the log grate and will eventually be covered in hot coals as the fire burns correct?**
A: Yes, the lighter tube goes under the log grate and ignites the logs above. Once the fire is going, you turn off the lighter. I really don't have hot coals covering the lighter, it's just grey ashes and they fall past the lighter tube, to the bottom of the fireplace. I clean those out when they get a few inches deep.

**Q: Is one side of the pipe closed off so the gas and flames come out of the ⅛ holes and not all the way through to the other side**
A: Yes, the one side is closed off.

**Q: what kind of hose/fitting do I need in order to hook up to a 20 lb propane tank**
A: This unit is designed to be attached to a permanent installation in your fireplace. I don’t see how it could be used with a flexible hose unless it was outdoors. Even then it would be difficult
