Contacted Anker who verified my purchase using my serial number. After a few emails, figured maybe, just maybe, it is because of too many devices. One email with attachment showed that we should not connect more than 8 A. That information is right there in the description. So, is that idle or actually working? I got a replacement one and kept the old one to use the ports that were still functioning. From Anker's suggestion, today I removed the old one in case it was damaged and could damage my devices/data. Checked amps on my 7 external hard drives. Way over 8 amps at 1.8 each. Plugged the three from the old hub into the new one. The last one wasn't recognized. So, ejected two drives and plugged the one that would not be recognized back in to a different slot. Good to go. Then ejected it again and placed it back into the one that didn't recognize it. Still good to go. Neither my camera nor my iPad would be recognized before I put everything in the new hub and ejected two. Just tried my camera. It is recognized. So, I have five of my seven drives on and the camera plugged in. The 8 Amp disclaimer might include something about external HD taking 1.8 each right off the bat? But.....the old hub would not recognize the iPad or camera yesterday with only three EHD plugged in. Tried several different ports. Now, how about this? What can my iMac handle? Two hubs pushing the limits? I guess plug and play is not really plug and play. Just thought I'd through all of this out there for your input. **Q: Does the hub stay powered after the computer is off? ie if i turn off my laptop will my keyboard lights turn off as well if i'm using external power?** A: The light on my HyperX Cloud 2 stays on. And my Laptop Cooling Pad (fan) stays running. So I would say the power stays on. **Q: Will this hub work with a usb 2.0 bdr drive operating at 1.3 amps? can it be plugged in iq ports?** A: The IQ ports just provide power. They don't provide a data connection. So you'd need a data connection that delivered 1.3 amps. Some drives provide a "Y" cable that allows you to connection to two ports. One of them is the data connection, the other is providing just additional power. The data ports on this provide .9 amps each so you could use two of those or figure out which connection on the "Y" cable is data and which is just power and connect the one that is just power up to the IQ port. If you just have one USB connection on your cable you might need to find another hub that provides 1.3 Amps (i.e. 1300 mA) or more. **Q: I want a hub to give 5v to my blue yeti mic., as well as to power a wd 3tb portable drive. i need powered and data ports. 3.0 is future proofing.** A: After a minor setback, after a power outage caused by thunderstorm, ie: power supply would not switch to 220... I have 2 1TB HD's, amouse and keyboard attached. I also have charged my call phone, Garmin, various cameras with no further problems. Also some HD's were recognized by Win 10, not recognized when plugged into computer USB port.
