P0496 due to purge valve that wasn’t fully closing. Ford wanted $300 for the entire assembly (valve with a spiderweb of vacuum hoses). Cut out failed valve and spliced this inline with 3/8(?) fuel hoses and some pipe clamps. New part seems identical to the failed ford part. We’ll see if it last longer than 30k miles - so far so good

I have a 2017 Ford Focus with a 1l ecoboost engine. The evap purge valve causes the engine to not start after filling with gas. Had to let it crank 4 or 5 times to get it to start due to the bad purge valve. The purge valve assemblies for the 2.0l engine is readily available everywhere. Unfortunetly, Ford used a different purge valve for the 1l ecoboost engines. It's the same engine setup as in a Ford Fiesta 1.0l.I had tried to get the whole assembly with the hoses attached from Ford and other parts places and it is on back order everywhere for 2 months. Can't get one anywhere. The part is usually sold as an assembly of the purge valve and hoses attached and can't be removed so you replace the whole assembly.So, since I can't get an assembly anywhere, I bought this, which is just the purge valve itself. You can'y directly replace this since the current "hoses" are fitted on the purge valve and can't be removed (thus why the whole assembly gets replaced). I cut the "hoses" at the old purge valve and used a piece of 3/8" fuel line hose to connect the new purge valve (this one) to the "cut" hoses. I used small hose clamps (4 of them) to hold the fuel line/purge valve connects in place. Works like a champ.Buying this purge valve also saved a bunch of money instad of buying the whole assembly. And to have Ford do it, it would cost about $300 and they still would have to wait for the partassembly to come in that is on backorder for 2 months. You know they are not going to do a work around like I did.So if your car won't start after getting gas and you have a Ford Focus with a 1l ecoboost engine (or Ford Fiesta), get this purge valve, 4 small hose clamps and 6" of fuel line and you will eliminate your starting problem.

If you were going to order this piece, make sure you order the rest of the tubes and wiring that goes to it or you will have an issue putting this piece on by itself. But once you get all of that, it does perform well and it does exactly what it is designed to do

This purge valve fit and the dash board failure light has stayed off. The first replacement that I bought from an auto parts store didn't fit (same as the first valve from Amazon). The second valve from both places fit but the auto parts valve didn't work. The dash board light came on.

Fixed the check engine code on my 2020 Transit Connect. Exactly the same as the original.
