Really opens up the garage to new possibilities! *MAN CAVE*
I bought this item and had an Amazon rep install it for an additional fee. This product is awesome! I now no longer have the old garage door opener in the center of the ceiling of my garage and this makes me very, very happy. It makes the entire garage feel bigger and allows me to mount things to the center of the ceiling that I couldn't mount there before. For some that might mean overhead storage or bicycle racks etc. For me, it meant that I could let my garage do double duty as a small disco club party room for my family and friends. I DJ as a hobby and being able to set my garage up the way I want to is great! And this garage door opener allows me to do that since it is mounted on the side of the garage door out of the way. It looks very stylish, too, in my opinion, which is just a bonus. The remotes and the wall mounted controller also work very well and are fairly easy to figure out. I had to program the second remote and the manual that came with it was very straightforward and easy to follow for that purpose. All in all, I'm extremely satisfied with this product. Oh yeah, and it came with a new garage light to be mounted on the ceiling, which I had done, but not smack dab in the middle anymore, ha ha. I had it mounted 3/4 of the way away from the door and it looks great and works quite well, too. I'm very happy with this product and definitely recommend it if you are looking to open up your garage space further.

Best opener I've owned
Love this opener, was skeptical due to the fact that it cannot hold the door shut (it pulls on the spring cables to open). Its got a locking solenoid though, so that problem is solved, though that is one more component to fail. I have read a lot people having issues with the MyQ panel, so hoping that isn't a problem, will report back if I see issues. This thing is very smooth, quiet, and efficient. It was crazy easy to install, though I made one mistake... the 1 inch drive has a through hole, so you don't need to trim it to length. This is the axles which runs through your spring/bearing combo. I thought I would point this out to save someone else the slap on the forehead after installing and realizing they engineered it smarter than you for once. I didn't check afterwards if that was mentioned in the instructions, but for some reason I had it in my mind that you needed that length to determine position.

I like the way it works
I like the way it works, smooth and quite. I like not installing a door opener rail 14 feet up. I did not like the instructions for installing the 877 code pad!!! The instructions state after completing set up and hitting the enter button the red light will go out and you are done. I programed it several times and the red light would never go out I gave up thinking the unit was defective. About five minutes latter the light went out and all was well, note to wait would have prevented this problem!!

Best garage door opener
I had a very old garage door opener that was falling apart. I notice this LiftMaster 8500 and started doing some research. After a month or so I decided to purchase it. Best decision ever. Not only does this garage door opener gets rid of that huge railing messing over your garage but it’s super quite. You hand hardly hear the door opening which is super nice when it’s early in the morning or later at night. It also comes with a garage door bolt lock. I was already thinking about purchasing a lock separately but once I found out this garage door comes with one it was an added bonus. I had this system close to 6 months and believe me I didn’t know I could be so excited for a garage door opener but this system did the trick for me. FYI the door does close and opener closer than a chain or belt driven drive but it’s only a few seconds slower not enough for you to really notice.

Set it and forget it.
Wow, you never know what you are missing, until you have it. This has to be the quietest door openers ever made. My old one was a Genie, we use our garage door opener is our front door. It gets used a lot, I ran the electrical in the attic from the existing plug and hired a door opener company to do the rest. This will not work on a Wayne Dalton door that still has proprietary spring adjusters. I can now sneak my car in and out of the garage and not wake up the neighbors. Absolutely perfect. 150% less moving parts which hopefully returns less breaking/downtime. I don't write reviews often, but this is a must-have for not only bragging rights but to feel the next level of quality of life.

Doesn't connect to MyQ even with a smart hub bridge from Chamberlain that I purchased separately
I was advised from my security system to get this door opener as it was myQ and could tie into my security system. I purchased it for 400 then realized it needed a bridge! Tack on 80 for that. I attempted many times to connect it but it will not open and close the door at all won't pair with the bridge. Crappy sales and tech support. Then after hours and hours it looks like they needed to send a led light with the my q piece to make not all work.....they didn't it was a regular light. This is crappy waste of 500 and I won't ever purchase their products again. Its like they can't keep up with technology and thought they could pawn these off on people unknowingly....they did. It works fine as a garage door opener but it WILL NOT do smart phone features. I only purchased this one for that. To take it down from a very high ceiling and easy another installer to put another one is too cost prohibitive so I am stuck with this piece of junk that I could have purchased something much cheaper with no supposed my q capability.

Best garage door opener ever
sure its a little pricey, you get what you pay for. its insanely quiet i find myself questioning whether i hit the button some times, but sure enough its opening. I have a standard garage and use a scissor style automotive lift a lot and this gives me so much more overhead room and options when lifting. It was stupid easy to install and program and i got to use a key pad i bought a while back from amazon that didn't agree with my ancient craftsman opener that i replaced. If your on the fence just do it. So worth it. antenna range is a bit disappointing but i got it handled.
