The ATX Strix X870E-E in my Lian Li O11 EVO XL paired with AMD Ryzen 9950X3D
I installed the ATX Strix X870E-E into my Lian Li O11 EVO XL and appreciated how its beefy VRM heatsinks and reinforced PCIe slots cleared the chassis rails without fuss. The matte black finish and subtle ROG accents felt durable, and neatly labelled headers made cable management straightforward. In the UEFI BIOS I enabled the AMEP profile for my DDR5-6400 kit, only to find occasional instability at full speed. Dialling the memory down to 6000 MHz delivered rock-solid operation without any further tweaking. I also fine-tuned fan curves through Q-Fan—the stock pump profile was a bit loud at idle, but adjusting it took only a few clicks. Power delivery never wavered under my Ryzen 9 9950X3D. During extended Cinebench runs and gaming sessions, temperatures remained in check and there was no sign of thermal throttling or voltage droop. The primary M.2 slot consistently hit full PCIe 5.0 speeds, while secondary M.2 and SATA ports shared lanes exactly as documented. Networking impressed: onboard Wi-Fi 7 held a rock-solid link across my house, delivering lower latency and smoother multi-device performance than earlier standards. The 2.5 GbE LAN port pushed full throughput on my home switch, and front-panel USB-C plus three USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 ports covered all my high-speed peripherals without complaint. My only quibbles are the premium price tag and occasional lag when navigating deep BIOS menus. Armoury Crate still loads more background services than I’d prefer, so I pared it back to essentials after setup. Overall, in my roomy O11 EVO XL, the Strix X870E-E delivers stable performance, extensive connectivity, and Wi-Fi 7 an excellent base for a high-end 9950X3D build.

MOBO with AM5 future upgrade path, Excellent overall Performance, Build & BIOS control options
This whole platform is very powerful and is a great match for the Ryzen 9 7950X3D In it's entirety, This Motherboard is a Feature Packed Platform with many Top spec technologies. It has been rock solid in its primary role as part of a home Compute cluster, (part-time gaming rig ;) running demanding compute workloads (VMs/Pods/containers) almost 24/7. One part where I feel that maybe a few pcie lanes could have been sacrificed would have been with native 10G LAN, but with that said the actual Intel I255-v 2.5G Ethernet is still more than good, plus with the option to use USB4/Thunderbolt/Plugin USB 10G NIC or a PCIE slot it provides a lot of flexibility options. Asus have done a solid job on the actual build quality itself, one key aspect are the heatsinks for the Gen5 NVMe slots, these are substantial/Beefy heatsinks and will actually function well as opposed to only being there as just part of the Aesthetics. The same for the VRMs Beefy heatsinks to help with any power demands you throw at this board. The Board layout is very good with ideal positioning for fan headers, etc. QLED is another very nice touch with acts as a Temperature indicator as well as displaying BIOS Codes on Boot. Connectivity Asus have provided a huge number of ports on this board, with multiple USB USB3.2 / USB-C 20G /TB4. Lots of room for devices and future expansions. The labeling on the Rear IO shield is helpful and a nice touch. The Board also comes with WiFi 6E (.ax 160MHz spread) which works very well! This goes to my point this MOBO gives you options and the flexibility you need. Audio and DAC/DSP Chip. This board comes offers some very nice features and 32Bit @ 192k plus a SPDIF for optical in/out. It has some very nice companion apps if installed via the ASUS ARMOURY Crate Utility. It has a very nice sounding Realtek package. BIOS. The BIOS of this motherboard is packed with features, many of which I am still yet to learn about. You have complete control to change almost every aspect you could ever need to customize for their needs. With the AMD CPU you can manipulate the Curve optimizer and have a say on how you want the power delivery to be applied. There is way to much to list here the number of features this motherboard supports is crazy, in a good way! This whole platform is very powerful and is a great match for the Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPU. I am Happy with this purchase and the Build I finally settled on is as follows: Spec's: CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D MOBO: ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-E Gaming WiFI RAM: 32GB (16GBx2) Corsair Vengeance DDR5 EXPO_I 6000MHz @ CL30 (Soon to upgrade to 2x32GB Kit) GPU: RTX 3070 8GB Cooler: AIO Corsair H150/170 320mm iCUE .. (I forgot if its the 150/170?) NVMe: X2 WD SN850X [2TB] Crucial 4TB SSD SATA3. (Waiting for prices to drop for Gen5 before upgrade) Case: Corsair 5000D (Very nice case BTW!) Faulty inconsistent product, shame
Motherboard wouldn't post out the box, i knew my other parts were working since they were from my previous build. Tried to turn it on with only the atx and cpu cables in, no CPU or RAM. Tried to flash the bios with flashback, nothing, no yellow flashing LED as described in the support instructions, only the ROG RGB led was on, taunting me. For whatever reason holding the bios flashback button causes the power to flow normally? Not sure how but it eventually posted somehow. Got a new os installed, updated the bios and managed to game on it for a week, but it was a coin toss if it wanted to come back on with no issues after powering it down. Sometimes the usb wouldn't work, sometimes the display output would fail, and most of the time it wouldn't start until i flicked the bios flashback button and waited a bit. Usually the red LED on my GPU is on if the psu is on, but on this motherboard it would sometimes flash intermittently, especially after a shutdown and then i knew it wouldn't turn back on. Only when the flashing stopped, and i got a solid red led shining would the power button work to turn on the PC. But it seems that now that no longer works. I am not sure if its just the motherboard that i received that was defective, most likely it is but i will no longer be buying asus motherboards.

Stunning gaming experience
An awesome gaming machine for the money, very easy to setup, high quality feel to it, very sturdy, loads of connectivity, easy to update the bios which takes around 5 minutes, and handles gaming very easily. This is an AM5 platform and used 64Gb Ram with a 9800x3d processor, combined with a 24Gb GPU makes this motherboard a very strong component, looks amazing in black with it's rgb setup. Very impressive and would definitely buy again.

No need to spend more...
It is a motherboard. It has everything. It does most things. In my opinion this is the best compromise between price<>features at this time. Altough it only has one PCIe 5.0 slot, it will not be throttled down when using a SSD. Other, even more expensive boards, will throttle back to PCIe 4.0 when a SSD is used. Not only do I find this an odd design choice, it usually boils down to false advertising as this shortcoming is not advertised but hidden away in the small-print of the manual. The PCIe16_1 slot will keep running at full speed (PCIe 5.0), which will be good for future graphics cards, but it compromises with its remaining slots. There is a small PCIe1 slot, for smaller extension cards (running at PCIe 3.0), and a full size PCIe16_2 slot that supports PCIe 4.0. This slot configuration should be enough, unless your future usage scenario is to add a second high-end graphics card. There are plenty USB-ports ranging from super-fast to not so fast, by todays standards, but even the slowest ports are more than adequate for mouse/keyboard and low speed USB sticks (inlcuding BIOS updates). It has a full audio connector layout, including an optical port, and for the internal AMD graphics you can make use of Display Port or HDMI (2.1). Being a ROG board it has a wide range of overclock features. I am not an overclocker and, from what I have read, it is quite risky to overclock with the current AMD CPUs and chipsets. I can not comment on its overclock features or stability, but Asus is generally quite good at this. Do this at your own risk though. It also has some nice ROG design features, including a nifty looking LED logo that can change colour to your own liking. The SSD heatsinks look great and also serve the function of making your SSDs run just a little bit cooler. There is a massive amount of fan connectors on-board, too many for my taste, but some people feel the need to turn their case into a LED Hovercraft and will mount more fans than a high-spec military drone. On top of that there are also multiple RGB connectors and even an optional second CPU fan connector. All in all this motherboard has all the features, mod-cons and superfluous lightning effects that you need. In some respect it has better features than more expensive boards and it looks awesome. Pros: - Excellent features - Quality build - Many connectors and slots - Does not throttle the PCIe 5.0 slot Cons: - Too expensive (like all current motherboards) - Only 1 full speed PCIe slot (but at least it does not throttle down) - Wi-Fi aerial lead is a bit short for optimal placement - BIOS updates can be a little iffy Conclusion: At present this is one of the best-featured motherboards you can get. Spending more would not add much, perhaps a few more faster USB ports and spending less will likely make you miss out on the PCIe 5.0 features. (01-06-2023)

Asus Rog X870E E Wifi
This is a solid motherboard. It is no lightweight the PCB is very thick. Intuitive bios compared to some other mobo manufacturers. Doesn't look lost in an Antec C8 dual chamber case. Easy to fit gpu and M2 cards. Memory was recognised and Expo worked. CPU 9950x has no issues, and my pc runs better and cooler than it did using a 670 mobo. Wifi 7 seems quicker and more stable, don't ask it just does. Single line out sound output, but the quality is good through my speakers. Trying to think of a negative, apart from the price. Amazon cheaper than most other retailers, and Prime delivery same day before 2200 is insane, but totally appreciated thank you. I prefer the looks compared to the Hero version. I know people criticise Asus if they have to RMA anything back, but you cannot fault the build quality. If you want to save a few quid, buy the cut down H model (less slots), or go white with the A model. This is my third ROG motherboard build, and I really cannot fault it.

Great motherboard, with some caveats, well worth considering for your build.
Performance and quality are great. Lots of functionality, though the high heat sinks on the NVME SSD slots make it very tricky if your GPU in slot 1 is bulky on the backplane. and the heatsink on the CPU can overlap too!!! So plan carefully. In my case I had to remove two of the heatsinks for the NVME slots in order to get GPU and the CPU cooler block in. See attached pic.
