Safety first
Great price brought on prime day! Charged battery which took around 6 hours for full charge and only lasted 3 days but that was due to the settings I had the camera on! Easy to install, great quality picture and picks up movement with ease. Installed on our outside garden bar to capture movement in our back garden. Brought an additional battery as you can have 2 installed inside the camera at the same time which works well.

Ring Spotlight Cam Pro with Solar Panel
The Ring Spotlight Cam Pro is an excellent security camera with great image quality, motion detection, and useful smart features. It provides clear footage, reliable alerts, and good night vision, making it a solid choice for home security. However, the solar panel charging in the UK’s climate is not very effective. Cloudy days significantly reduce charging efficiency, meaning the camera may not stay powered for long. For consistent performance, it’s better to plug it into a power outlet or use the solar panel with a smaller camera that requires less energy. That said, when properly powered, this camera is a fantastic option for enhancing home security.

Ring camera for shed at end of garden.
Really easy to install. Located at end of garden looking at my shed. Also bought ring solar panel which connects via usb c. I have south facing garden and app says battery always charging even when dark! Battery does go up to 100% though. For completeness sake I bought a second ring battery (from eBay). This had only 3% charge but after 2 days both batteries over 90%. Image very good but there is fairly heavy battery drain (to mid 80s%) if you check in the evenings. However, it is connected by WiFi extender so wonder if this contributes to the drain.

Good camera, good light. Few niggles.
I have this on the rear of the house, with the solar panel.Pros: The light and motion detection works really well. I have two other ring devices which was part of the reason I ended up going for this, as the interface with all three views works really well and is very easy to use when looking at live view and past footage. It can hold two batteries which extends its life, but I have it with the solar panel which even on cloudy uk days, keeps it more or less topped up to 90-100% every day.Cons: I do wish ring allowed cameras to 24/7 record. I understand the battery would be an issue but I’m sure a work around would be possible if the tried. However the motion detection on frequent is reliable enough for this not to be a deal breaker.I also wish the floodlights had more functionality, at the moment, they only activate for the 30 second chucks the camera records. It would be nice if you could set it so the lights stay on for e.g. 1 minute regardless of whether the camera is recording

Fantastic buy!!
Second one we have bought and now have one at front door and one in back garden. They are fantastic for two cameras we pay 7.99 a month and get alerts on them both and playback plus live feed. Great price for a quality camera. Battery life is pretty good considering in constant use. Connect to WiFi with no issues at all. Easy to set up and app works great, easy to use. Smart looking too.

Solar panel instead of second battery.
I bought this camera to cover our garden. It has a a good picture, both with lights and in infrared, and a good field of view. However, it only comes with one rechargeable battery. I bought a second battery as I found the lights used a lot of power when there's regular activity at night, e.g. cats and foxes.Even with two batteries installed I eventually got fed up of having to charge one of them every couple of weeks, so I bought a Ring solar panel for it.The solar panel works amazingly well, charging both batteries from 65% to 100% in a couple of days of March sunshine, even with all the overnight activity. So if buying this spotlight cam, it's probably a good idea to buy the solar panel instead of a second battery. There's only a few quid difference in price between the two but the solar panel should mean theres rarely a need to recharge the battery at all.

A case of cost cutting.
The previous generation of Ring cameras were great for me. Apart from having to replace a 4 year old Wired Spotlight Cam because of water ingress, the quality was great. I have 6 Ring cameras and rarely had any issues at all. However, this replacement is terrible. TERRIBLE!Firstly, it wouldn't have been hard to have the same mounting points for when replacing cameras. Nope, 4 new holes 45 degrees from the previous holes. The mounting is very weak and no amount of tightening stuff up would stop someone easily pulling the camera from the mount. The resolution seems to be much worse, especially at night with the light on. It's supposed to be the same resolution as previous models but with added HDR. Unless that stands for Horrendous Daily Resolution, I don't believe the advertising. The wireless connection is also much worse than before. I have a mesh network that worked well with the previous model. The best word I can think of for the new camera connection is Shonky.Even with a dual batteries and the solar panel facing South, I'll still be manually charging batteries regularly. I know it's been overcast but 1 of the batteries lost 50% in 6 days. I have the 1st gen battery spot light camera with a solar panel fitted elsewhere on the property, that one's solar panel gets the same amount of sun yet those 2 batteries have never fallen below 95% Considering how poor the mounting is, when you remove the batteries, the camera will move and you'll have to reset the position and motion zones. A lot of hassle. The actual motion detecting distance on the battery model is also really bad. My old Ring camera would see right to the end of my 40 metre driveway so it would give me plenty of notice and the video would start and show on my iPad well before they reached my door. The new Ring camera starts 12 seconds later and by the time the video started up on my iPad, it showed me the postman walking away (about 10 metres) from my door. It also consistently doesn't even pick up a car or a van parking up 3 metres in front of it.So after it being up for 10 days, it's all coming down and being sent back for a refund. I have replaced it with a Ring wired floodlight cam to match another one I have on the property. Not problems with this one at all and the connection is rock solid.
