Rick Steves Pocket Amsterdam

Well, Rick Steves always has great books. We have had some interesting experiences ... in one case, we were in Florence and sat at a window table to eat. We placed Rick Steves' book on the table. Tourists walking by noticed the book and came in ... as if "If Rick Steves recommends this place it must be good!" On another trip, we used Rick Steves' ROME to find a place to stay and transportation from Rome to the port. Excellent information. Affordable lodging. Great driver to and from the port. And then, to top it off, Rick Steves just happened to be on the same cruise! Needless to say, when we were ready to visit Amsterdam for the first time, we purchased a copy of his pocket guide. Excellent every step (literally ... STEP) of the way! Amsterdam is a great place to visit, very tourist friendly, and incredibly easy to get around with Rick Steves' guidance.

We stayed 4 nights, and had 3 full days in Amsterdam. This pocket book was invaluable. Each day we completed one of the walking tours, visited a museum, and then enjoyed Amsterdam for the rest of the night. I felt like we saw a good portion of the city within a short amount of time and within our budget. We used a Lonely Planet guide for another city on our trip and were disappointing in the quality compared to this Rick Steve's guide. Do yourself a favor and order this book!

I did one of the walking tours in this book, and found the narration to be excellent. At times, the use of ordinal.directios was confusing, as I did not always know what they were (no compass). Regardless, Rick Steves' guides are always excellent, and are my go to source for accurate and timely information.

this book saves time, money, and instantly plans your trip for you so you see the best sites, visit at the right times, and avoid any mishaps. Steve's guide has a convenient pocket map that gives you easy access to where you are and he gives great insights into the places you want to visit. He even gives great suggestions on where the locals hang-out! I will not travel without his guides! Thanks Rick Steves!!!

I have so many Rick Steves books. Have used them for 3 European trips exclusively. He makes it easy to travel in unknown lands if you follow his books. I like this Amsterdam mini book. Maps and everything. Its all in there. It would be nice if he had these pocket books for other destinations too.

I was only in Amsterdam for two days and with the help of this book I was able to pack in (almost) everything! This was my first trip traveling solo, so I wanted to be as prepared as possible for Amsterdam. I am so glad I bought this book! There are so many tips, tours, and facts that I felt extremely comfortable navigating around by myself! The size is perfect for a purse or backpack! Get this book! Do it and never look back!

Was traveling with a few friends - each had their own book. Mine was the one we used for all of our exploring. Really clear walking instructions, and perfect for seeing the highlights! Like all of Rick Steve's books it's written in an easy style, with very practical information and the size makes it easy to carry along so it's always available. For dining we preferred to pick a place that looked interesting in the neighborhood we were in, so I don't know about the food or lodging recommendations.

Not a bad read, had great suggestions. Ended up freestyling my trip, using the book more as a reference for things to do. Would recommend as a quick guide.

En las guías de Rick Steves encontrarás solo lo básico e imprescindible. No se anda con tonterías y si algo es aburrido o un peñazo te lo dice claramente para que no pierdas el tiempo. En otras guías te abruman con tanto sitio para ver y todo, en general, está puesto al mismo nivel de importancia. Con Rick vas al grano, te advierte de lo que vale y no vale la pena. Por eso me gusta su estilo.

Excellent Pocket Guides. I wish Rick Steves published more of them as I love the format and size and wish he had one for Budapest. I also have the one for Prague which is just perfect for the week we will be spending there.

Usual Rick Steve style first impression is lots of useful information, presented with a humorous touch.

Nicely organized, good information. Good for lazy researchers as well (it did all the research for me haha).

Really not ready to review this product just yet. In looking at it I do think it will be amazing but until I take my trip I don’t want to give it those 5 stars
