I ordered three of these drill arbors thinking that while they seem a bit pricey, they appeared to offer more substantial support than others that I had to choose from. When I received them, I was surprised to see how beefy and well they are made. The quality is excellent and the washers provide a stability that helps the aluminum discs that I mounted to run smooth and true. They are a very good value for the money.

Bought this to try a new way of sharpening my woodworking tools. I read about a different method of honing sharp edges (chisels and plane irons) that included using a buffing wheel and homing compound to create a small bevel on the tools and wanted to give it a try. I purchased a rigid cotton buffing wheel, mounted it on this drill arbor and coated the cotton with some honing compound. Everything worked as expected and the edges on the tools that I used for the experiment are super sharp. From the limited use of the tools it also appears that they will be staying sharp a little longer than just using water and/or diamond stones alone. The mandrel worked great and was very easy to set up. Recommended.
