Hands down the best water filter pitcher I have owned. We have had 2 Britas and the quality has gone downhill. The pitchers are thin and the components a pain to clean. This Aquaphor is thicker plastic, ergonomically designed for easy use. And it’s attractive. It doesn’t fit in our refrigerator door but that’s ok because we leave it on the counter. My lid fits tight despite other reviews. Highly recommend.

Love this water pitcher. Easy to use, holds a lot of water. Keeps our coffee pot insides like new, extending its life and great to fill up our pets’ water bowls.

Been using this Opal pitcher for a week now, very happy with it. It is BIG but not so big I can't tuck it in my standard fridge...if space is a concern for you, get their 5 or 8 cup pitchers specifically designed for smaller spaces. This pitcher holds A LOT and can get heavy...says it holds 17 cups max but I only fill it about halfway, don't want to put too much stress on the handle. I don't see it lasting as long as my 8 year old Wellness Carafe whose handle is molded as one piece, but this pitcher costs 60% less & holds far more. Nice not having to refill twice a day. I like the dial on top that's activated when you lift the lid. Like the Wellness Carafe, the Aquaphors take standard Brita & elite filters. The standard Brita hangs down too far into the water, which I don't like, so I'll be using Aquaphor's short filters or Brita Elites. It came with 1 Aquaphor filter but I haven't used it yet. I'd have bought this pitcher even without a 10% off coupon, it holds twice as much as comparable Brita & Pur pitchers. Aquaphor isn't a company I'd heard of until recently. It was a founded by hydrologists from the Baltics, USA & Russia. The product box says "Made in Estonia" and Aquaphor is headquartered in Tallin, Estonia. I've had very good experiences with products from Baltic countries, so (crossing fingers) hope this is no exception!

Like the way it loads, much better than my old one. I also like the shape and the way the handle is formed to the picture. I think the top should be a made of stronger material like my last one. I’ve had no problems as of yet , it just seems flimsy

This is a beautiful pitcher and the water filtering system works great! The filters last for a long time and the water tastes pure and delicious. This has saved me a great deal of money by no longer having to purchase cases of bottled water each week for my family. It's a very affordable way to filter your sink water to replace bottled drinking water. The water filter pitcher is a very good bargain as it comes with one filter cartridge. Replacement filter cartridges can be purchased inexpensively as well. I'm very happy with this purchase!

edit: Aquaphor was very quick to respond about the leaking problem and immediately offered a replacement. Unfortunately the replacement had the same issues as the original, except the leaking was slower, about one drop every 10-15 seconds. I then tested with the Aquaphor filter and didn't notice any leaking which was good but I could see the water pooling in between the side of the filter and the plastic, like it's fighting to get through. I prefer the Brita filters though because I use the blue ones which last longer and are supposed to filter out more contaminants so it's a bummer they still leak. I think they should re-design how the filter sits in the reservoir. Maybe have it sit on the very top of the hole instead of inside so the lip of the filter will stop unfiltered water getting through, like how Brita does it. However it's good enough for me. The amount of tap that gets through won't alter the taste and shouldn't affect my health. I do like Aquaphor's support. They reply quickly and seem to really want to help. I hope they improve their design and solve this leak problem. That's a basic thing that people expect with filtration is not having anything unfiltered getting through. I'd still take this over the newer Brita pitchers though. Those are garbage. So I'm bumping my rating to 3.5 out of 5. original review: My current Brita pitcher was like 8 years old and falling apart so it was time for a new one. Unfortunately most of the newer Brita pitchers don't have a spout flap anymore and they crack so easily because the plastic is really low quality now. We should start calling the company Brittle. Hah that was good lol. Anyway, Costco's Kirkland pitcher would have been my preferred replacement since they're way better quality than Brita and they still have the spout flap but they've been discontinued. At least in the U.S.. Canada still has them though. Yet another reason to hate Canada. After much searching I found the Aquaphor Opal. Visually it looks great. I love the more rounded jug design. The plastic for the container and the little tub that sits inside feel like good quality. Not super thick but they don't feel cheap at all. The lid could have been better. It's decent, not flimsy, but could have been sturdier. Just be careful when handling it. At least it has the spout flap. The pitcher is compatible with Brita filters. Installing either brand of filters can be a tight fit. Make sure it's all the way in. Because there's another issue... Like another review stated, there's a slight flaw with the opening where you insert the filter. After inserting I find there's one spot where it will leak unfiltered water. If I rearrange the filter it will leak from a different spot. It's only like one drop every 5 seconds but I can clearly see it dripping down the side of the filter. It's not enough to change the taste of the water and the health risks are probably negligible, but it is a flaw. The other review said it happened with Aquaphor's own filter but not Brita's filter. This happened with Brita's filter. It's strange it still leaks despite how tight the filter is in there. It feels like if the hole for the filter was smaller by fractions of a millimeter it would be enough to fix it. I'm still using the same Brita filter from my old pitcher so I can't say how fast or clean-tasting Aquaphor's filters are but the water tastes the same using the Brita filter with the Aquaphor. But I don't think it's a 12 cup pitcher. At least the space for the filtered water isn't. I think they're including the reservoir that filters the water. I have a plain pitcher I use to fill water and pour into the filtered pitchers. I can pour more into the Brita 10-cup than this one. So I consider the 12 cup claim misleading. I really like: the Aquaphor's design, it feels good to hold and pour, the price is affordable, the quality feels pretty good. Don't like: the leaking issue shouldn't exist. I really hope they fix that. Implying it's 12 cups of filtered water when it's most likely filtered + unfiltered water is misleading. The filter insertion should be easier. And the lid could be a little sturdier. I give this a 3 out of 5. I'm keeping it but will contact Aquaphor to let them know about the leak problem.

Bought this to replace a moldy Brita I was too lazy to try to clean, and so far I prefer this WILDLY. Not only is it cheaper (both the jug itself and replacement filters) but it just seems to do a better job? The water seems to taste clearer, it filters faster, the little thing that keeps track of how long until you replace the filter seems to work better... and it just looks nicer in my fridge, in my opinion. Absolutely a gem of a find!

Most of the ones I viewed in the stores were quite smaller and not suitable for me. The larger ones were cumbersome for the amount they held. This is perfect, as it has a higher capacity and can be managed with one hand. Exactly the right amount to fill my drip coffee machine.
