Good fit and function
Minus 33 base layer pants in medium sizeI am a medium (32 waist, 32 inseam) and these bottoms fit great (not to snug, loose, or , long) and are plenty of insulation under my hiking Pants while out snowshoeing on 20-40* days—for me at least. I really like how good they feel next to my skin and move with my hiking pants.I feel like I get my moneys worth with Minus 33 clothing.

I was skeptical about ordering anything wool because of that...you know...the itch. But after trying Under Armour and reading and watching about wool products, I really was hopeful about merino wool.Fit and finish:Out of the box, these bad boys are good to go. When I tried them on, I walked around and thought, "ok, here comes the itch" (enter delayed reaction). Although I felt some itch, it's not as bad as I expected, but I got over it.Some people will be more/over/hyper-sensitive to merino wool, especially if it's going to be 100%. Other products they might try are a wool/nylon or wool/poly blend which might be more comfortable. For size, I normally wear a 34 waist and a 30 inseam pants. Minus33.com size chart says large...I guess I should've ordered large, but I ordered medium instead. The mediums fit just right. Now if you;re a dude who's got a lot of junk in your trunk -front/back or both- you might wanna go large...I wore these for a week with little activity, if you include shovelling snow in 25F weather, before washing; and there was no loss of warmth. It's not so warm that you feel cozy, but just right where your knees don't start chattering. At the end of my work shifts and before I went to bed, I'd change out of them. As far as wicking away moisture, the -33 did a better job at wicking away moisture and odor without losing warmth compared to the Under Armour cold gear. The UA Cold Gear will wick moisture but you will get cold.If I could give you a rough numerical estimate, I'd tell you, -33 will wick 20% more moisture than UA. -33 will retain 20% or more warmth than UA, especially with little/nil activity. For washing, I used liquid detergent in gentle cycle, but will opt for trying shampoo (wool=hair). Then hang dry.Overall, for more sensitive skin, try a wool/poly blend. For less sensitive skin, I highly recommend -minus 33Minus 33 Kancamagus - little itch, good price, good fit, good finish, good quality.12/24/2013:I'm wearing the set that I washed. I didn't notice any loss of fabric or fraying. It's 16F outside and I got poly cotton pants over the Minus 33. I'm good to go -not too cold, not shivering- just standing/pacing around smoking a Newport just after 2000 (8pm).I'm at work now, it's after 2300, it's 73F inside and I'm toasty and not roasty.Merry Christmas.

The best long johns ever! EVER.
I got a pair of these like 7 years ago for an NYC winter, but got the wrong size (I got a small). This was not the company's fault, I just didn't know my proper size; even so, they were wonderful and I loved them, even repaired them when they got a bit of a run after a few years hard wear. Now that I have the right size though, my god, they're EVEN better. So soft, so warm! I actually can't use them for their intended purpose of being under my work uniform because they are TOO warm for inside my store! I still feel the wind out here on the winter prairie with them under my jeans, but I did not expect anything short of thick leather would stop that. They keep me warm to and from the car and will get a lot of use because they aren't too warm for fall and spring. Not to mention, the truly winter weight version of these, the 'expedition' Minus 33 sells, is far too expensive for my budget at nearly $100 a pair. Granted I'm sure they are worth every penny, but those are pennies I just do not have! If I did though, I would definitely buy a pair of the expedition weight AND a pair of these AND a pair of the lightweight ones too!! This company is wonderful and their products have been consistently well-made, sturdy, and well worth the price. I hate wearing wool but these are just so soft I don't even notice it's wool at all! And they come in the nicest box, wrapped in the old-fashioned way: with tissue paper between the folds!! It's so classy! I love it.Definitely baby these with cold gentle cycle, no dryer, no softener, and washing them in a mesh lingerie bag. Believe me, it's worth it! You'll get like 7 years out of them at least! And this is coming from a shivery little southerner who now has to live in the frozen Minnesotan wastes. These are definitely my favourite pair of winter underwear and the only ones I truly feel are worth the expense. My fleece-lined tights from the cheapo store are hot while also not being warm enough, the coldpruf pair I got last year is just a low-content merino/poly blend that also doesn't breathe while being too cold (and being really baggy!). These breathe and fit perfectly without being binding! Even when they're too hot I don't notice feeling sweaty and even with windy days I still feel warmed up from them. I'm super glad I was finally able to replace my old pair. Thank you Minus33 y'all're the best!
