They’re good, definitely extend your filters cartridge or filter floss etc. but they clog really fast, and I by no means have large waste producing fish, I used it in my betta tank, with 4 harlequin rasboras and 6 neon tetras. Within 2 weeks it’s clogged and it’s not really something you can waste time to clean and reuse, getting it off in the first place without the stuff clogging it is hard. Best way is to use a zip loc sandwich bag and just underwater wrap it up inside the bag shut the filter off and just remove the intake with it. The surface stuff will come off but you’ll have to replace it. Personally I like ones that are more coarse, takes longer for them to clog up, and they’re a bit bitter to clean and reuse. I’d say if you want something to save you time in filter maintenance this isn’t it, causes more work overall for you. Now if you want something fast, and cheap you can get to prevent fry or shrimp being sucked up then these or the coarse ones will work.

Fir my intake tube

These are a good choice for use as a sponge intake filter on mid size hang on back filters. Larger filters and canister filters would probably need a sponge with a larger inner diameter. I just wish the pore size was a little larger. Doesn't seem to restrict water flow too much but coarser would be better.

These are the perfect size for putting on the end of my aquariums hang on back filter intake tube. Fits snug. Works well filtering small particles. Sponge density is rather fine, catches very small bits of detritus. No worry of fry, small fish or baby shrimp becoming caught in or pass thru this sponge.
