Super awesome!
Love this! Works as stated. No gel pens, all else works. I will be purchasing when mine is filled up. We wet every single page under running water, then shook out the excess water. The ink we used did not smear, even when we rubbed the ink. When we dried out the notepad, the paper was (literally) as new. So cool.

pretty cool, pricey, works
Pretty cool. When wet it only works with pencil. A must for the occasional situation, but pretty small and pricey. Not more pricey than similar items, though. Save for occasional use.

Very cool notepad
This notepad is made in Finland. It is made of a stone like material that will definitely hold up against the elements. I recommend it for anyone needing to take notes and looking for a quality notepad.

Toss your Write in The Rain or Rocketbook note pads - Modestone beats them both!
This Modestone note pad is ideal for my use. It takes ink and pencil better than other waterproof note pads (including Write in The Rain and WeatherMax), is equally durable, and most importantly to me, it's the ideal size.I have big hands, not freakish but big enough that I have a hard time finding gloves to fit. So tiny little 3"x5" note pads are difficult to write in as well as to hold while I'm doing so. They're also a pain to remove from a back pants or inside jacket pocket where they can get lost. The Modestone, even with a pen attached (using pen loops I found on Amazon) slips easily into a pocket and is just tall enough so that it sticks out to where it's easy to get a grip on it when you need to make a quick sketch or brief note.As mentioned, it takes ink or pencil like normal paper, where other brands such as WeatherMax and Write in The Rain don't, especially ink. I prefer the white color to the gray used by other brands as well, because I've begun photographing or scanning my notes and using an app to convert my handwriting to text while also allowing me to share my info with others. That brings up another advantage of the Modestone paper - it takes erasable inks (I use Frixion pens) very well, allowing for neater, more organized notes and clearer drawings. Once those notes are 'scanned' into one of several apps, the entire page can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and is ready to be reused. This allowed me to replace Rocketbook brand notepads that cost more than 3 times as much. Obviously, used in that way you won't want to use the note pad in wet conditions. So the Modestone is not only a great alternative to the Write in The Rain small notepad which it outperforms at a similar price point, it's also a no-brainer replacement for the much more expensive Rocketbook note pad which it also outperforms. Modestone paper has the waterproof capability of Write in The Rain AND the ability to be reused again and again like Rocketbook - and is easier and more likely to be utilized than either of them due to its better paper and more useful size.My only complaint is that Modestone doesn't offer more sizes, especially a top bound 8 1/2 x 11 notebook.Additional note: my primary reason for using waterproof notepads is because they are much more durable than regular paper, so the pages don't tear out from the coil. That's why I've been using a WeatherMax notepad off and on for over 5 years, and I haven't lost a single page or note. At 3"x 6" however, it's difficult to write in because of its narrow width and bothersome to use because it sticks so far out of my back pocket. That's why I'm so pleased with this Modestone note pad - it's a pleasure to use and its size means I always have it with me, while it's also durable AND reusable.
