Really nice audio interface
I really like this audio interface coming from the scarlett 4i4.My 4i4 was starting to fail, and would frequently disconnect from PC as the default sound device. (I now suspect that it might not have been getting enough power over usb-c, but I am still investigating).I wanted to try something new when replacing my 4i4.The apollo series were always out of my reach pricewise, but new Volt series seemed to be a great entry point to try UA products. There are mini-similarities between these interfaces (both work well enough), but 2 points were important.Pros:Sound - These sounded a bit more natural and warm (probably due to the "Vintage" button which I prefer over the "Air" option on the Scarlett). Direct monitoring into my headphones and monitors (sony mdr-7506 & jbl 305p) sounded slightly better, and also just playing some FLACs also sounded good. I didn't test recording with the volt and swapping devices to playback with the 4i4 and vice versa, but overall the Volt sounds better to me.Power - This gives the option to power over barrel jack or through usb. Also, the power switch is kind of nice.Cons (pretty much all are form factor):Shape: I like the look, but the I did like the rounded corners on the scarlett. Also, it's incredibly easy to find a free gcode file to 3d print an underdesk mount for any of the scarlett interfaces.Size: This unit stand a little bit taller, and quite a bit deeper.Monitor knob: I liked the metal knob for the monitor on the Scarlett. The plastic knob on the Volt perfectly good, but I like the look of the Scarlett's knob.-----------------------Other notes:I am very happy with my choice between these 2. I briefly considered the Minifuse 4 for the 2nd headphone jack and would've been my second choice.

Not stand alone....
You're going to need a pre-amp for a good signal if you are usingSM58 57's or Sennheiser E835's . Most doing this work would know this, but some are just starting out so.... Like me LOL !!!

Quality hardware, peerless software
This will sound gushing, but it's true. The hardware is leagues beyond the Focusrite it replaced, just for the construction, hum-reduction, and preamp. The included software is just not in the same universe, it's so superior. The DAW alone that UA offers made me uninstall Ableton Live 11 (and they include Ableton 12, which I'll still check out). Much better hardware, even better software. This is a no-brainer. If you're choosing between the two, it's this one. And if you start out with a Scarlet, you'll buy this one eventually and have something to gift to your friends —so it's all good.

Great quality interface for XLR inputs, low line level makes it just an okay buy.
I really really want to love this audio interface in so many ways. The price is right, the quality is amazing, it "just works". But I got this because I needed an affordable interface that had both XLR and line in inputs. The XLR inputs are excellent, I use a condensing microphone for daily use in video calls and simple voice recording work and it works perfectly. The problem is the line input. The input gain on it is so low that it renders it almost useless. The line input on this device NEEDS to have a gain control somewhere. Software, hardware, somewhere. I regularly work with a drone generated by my phone, and event at full volume from my phone, which, is line level, the gain in the Volt is way too low. It's making the line input borderline unusable. So what I essentially have is a 2 channel audio input device. So if what you want is a 2 channel input device with a very low gain line input - then this is for your, but I think for most of us - we need a line input that has a bit more gain, or a volume control. I'd happily pay another 20-30 for that feature added, so UA if you're listening - please please please add a gain control for the line input and make this interface perfect. As it is, I can only give it three stars because of the line level.

Small but build like a tank, big bang for the buck
The media could not be loaded. What I don’t like is the fact that this unit is smaller than it appears online. What I like is the sound quality of the vocal recordings, monitor outputs are clean and colorless. I also love the fact that this unit has multiple I/O which means I can patch in outboard gear with ease. I’m happy with the free perpetual UA plugins, just wish there was more plugins for vocals tho. I guess if I subscribed to the spark plugin plan, I can get more. But I already have tons of plugins and these only add to my collection and will aid in producing high quality content. Too bad this doesn’t have the onboard compressors nor dsp. Overall I’m quite content with my purchase

UA volt 4
Good interface. It’s a high quality machine, the Vintage adds a little bit of color to your vocal tracks. Mind you it’s nothing mind blowing but it does add some nice “warmth”. It’s been a little buggy with my Thunderbolt Displays I’m having to unplug them from my Thunderbolt hub and reconnect them at startup. Other than that this device delivers on all it said it would high quality sound and great A/D conversion. Overall I would highly recommend this product to anyone needing a quality interface.

stop with the scarlett it will only set you back
I thought the Scarlett could do it all. And it is an ok product but the sound quality was not great. The SECOND i plugged this Volt in I actually heard the power of my monitors. The recording sounds less noisy and now I have no excuse to not finish the 100's of songs I could never call done with the scarlett.
