I honestly don’t care what this is going to taste like. I am only worried about it having the calories and nutrition that I am going to need if this is all I have to nourish my body. And that it has a long shelf life and enough servings to get my family through the initial crisis if one ever arises. The canister came sealed and stacks easily out in my garage on my emergency rack. I would definitely recommend this item to anyone that is setting up an emergency pack

I almost hate to admit it, but I love instant mashed potatoes.Growing up in the 70s, my mom couldn't cook her way out of a wet paper bag.It was always hamburger helper, rice-a-roni, TV dinners, and instant mashed potatoes at our dinner table.In my adult years, I became a chef at a series of higher end restaurants, but those kinds of instant, easy cook meals continue to have a place in my heart and memories.That being said, I've become something of an instant mash aficionado.These are very tasty.I initially ordered one can. I wanted to try them out before I ordered more. After trying them, I ordered another can.They are kind of expensive for what they are. You can usually find single or double servings of instant mash at your grocery store for a buck or two a serving. These potatoes don't really compare cost-wise to those, but I honestly feel they taste way better.A nice buttery flavor with just the right amount of salt and pepper.Further, the #10 can is way more durable and will keep the product shelf stable for quite a bit longer than the paper/foil, or cardboard packets the store bought potatoes come in.An excellent long term food for emergencies.Highly recommended.

These are better than what you get in the grocery store! I ordered this as an emergency supply and intend to put it in long term storage but had to taste it first. I’m pleasantly surprised!

These taste pretty good for canned, prepared mashed potatoes. Definitely better with some butter, but edible as is. I'm not real impressed by the 5 year shelf life.I'm not sure how long it remains good after opening.Knocking off a star for shorter than expected shelf life.

...if I'm eating this then it's definitely an emergency situation with an ingredient list like that, and, having said that now with a home full of fresh organic meat & produce, I'm sure I'll be thrilled and grateful to have these when SHTF! I would expect every commercially-preserved food for long-term storage to contain some junk (maltodextrin, BHT, "natural and artificial" flavors, sunflower oil). I would also expect a slightly longer shelf life than 5 years when most of the other emergency food I've gotten is much longer lasting. But the one-ingredient #10 can is nice to have for peace of mind and these "mashed potatoes" are worth it just for that.
