HUGE Sound, Tiny Footprint, Awesome Bang for the Buck!
I have a decent collection of Hi Fi gear, from vintage Yamaha, NAD, and Klipsch, to Primare and Definitive Technology. It can get a little complicated when you just want to "turn it on and listen to background music." My wife needed something simple to satisfy that requirement. And this unit does it in spades!Connectivity with this unit is a non-issue: turn it on, pair it with your device, and play--you do not need an app to get it up and running. The controls could not be more simple: there are six in all, but the volume, and maybe the bass and treble are all you will really need. And now there is the quality, WOW! The look and feel of quality on this unit is beyond ANYTHING that I have spent a mere $300.00 on!And that quality extends into the sound. Sound is so subjective that I am not even going to try to describe it, except to say that it is BIG, CLEAR, and DETAILED. I have never heard anything like this at this price point. We have a small house (1300sqft), and this thing fills it well. My wife loves it!Just a point that I must mention, but that in absolutely no-way reflects on the quality and value of this unit: they (Marshall) claims that this unit produces a wider sound stage than its predecessor. And while it might do just that, I have never heard the previous model for comparison. While I can state from first-hand experience that the sound is HUGE, especially when one considers its size, I cannot say that a full stereo sound-stage has been achieved. With that said, this unit is PERFECT for anyone who wants incredibly simple ease-of-use, HUGE sound, beautiful retro looks with all the modern tech you need--and that won't break the bank--well, this is it.

Excellent. Great sound. Great looks.
I expected it would sound good. I was wrong. It sounds fantastic. In my office it fills the room with perfect rich sound. Great midrange too.I'm a bit of an audiophile, in my living room I'm running a NAD amp with Castle Bookshelves and Wharfendale Towers. This medium sized blue-tooth is excellent and well worth the price. However, you should know, there is no battery, the power plugs in, so you won't be taking it to the beach.

Perfect Addition to Living Room
The best addition to our living room. Works well, easy to set up and amazing sound. We connected it to our vinyl set up and it sounds great.

Sounds great, looks even better
This is a review I am happy to write. I had had it with some other blue tooth speakers (maybe starts with an S) that need an app to use, half and hour to connect and instructions. Not this Bad Boy. On/OFF, bass, treb and volume. Sounds clear with plenty of base at high and low volumes with every genre Ive tried. And I love the classic Marshall Amp cabinet style. Absolute awesome bookcase speaker. But be advised its heavy and needs to be plugged in, so maybe not the best choice if you need portability. Otherwise, trust me on this one. Led Zep, Stones, Allman Bros? Classic speaker for classic rock

Highly Impressed
I barely write reviews, but felt like I had to write one for this product. As others have mentioned, the sound is crisp and really fills the room. Aesthetics-wise, it feels like a quality product with the leathery finish, steel panel, snappy switch, and smooth, rubberized adjustment knobs. Yet, it is minimalistic and inoffensive to the eye -- you can keep it on your desk and forget it's there. The Bluetooth pairs seamlessly and stays paired -- I have had major issues with my Bose products on this aspect. One slight annoyance is that if no audio is playing for a while, the speaker goes into some sort of sleep mode, and you have to adjust the volume to get it to wake up -- not sure why this feature is necessary, as the speaker is connected to wall power.I also recommend to get the app -- it allows you to update the firmware and compensate for the placement of the speaker in the room. I found that doing the compensation led to a noticeable improvement of the sound.

They work
MANY years ago I bought Sonos speakers - when they could link to one another and could be driven off an iPhone playlist via Bluetooth. Then Sonos messed it up and hasn't been able to fix it - even to run off a computer through wifi. Over the years I have spent hours on the phone with their customer service people to try and get them to work - and they did intermittently until either an operating system was updated or the Sonos software was updated. And then I'd need to spend hours with customer service. I just gave up on them as they have become too frustrating to deal with. So those things are paperweights now.I bought 2 Marshall Stanmore III speakers. They cannot be linked together yet, but they are hardware capable for that. They just need the bluetooth technology to advance so that can happen. The Marshall Stanmore III speakers actually play my music (unlike my dust-gathering Sonos speakers). So that is a real advantage when you want to listen to music! My iPhone controls manage the volume. The music app on my iPhone controls what is played. And the Marshall app on my iPhone controls the bass and treble. It all works! However, the sound is good, but not as good as what my Sonos speakers were able to produce (when they were working, which they are no longer). The Marshall speakers were very easy to set up and connect via Bluetooth with my iPhone. I'm glad I bought them.

Amazing, rich, non-muddy Bass for the size
Holy Moly this thing pumps! Such a solid bass sound. It's sturdy, but has no battery, so you will have to plug it in wherever you take it. It's very low hassle, works perfectly for filling a room with sound.

Worth the upgrade over the Acton III
At the time of this review, the Stanmore is only $60 more than the Acton. I originally purchased one of each, and returned the Acton for another Stanmore. For the extra $60 I felt the sound quality difference was certainly worth it. The soundstage on the Stanmore is quite impressive, even when the speaker is facing 90 degrees away from the listener. Great clarity, surprisingly good bass, and it doesn't need a lot of volume to bring the full audio spectrum. It also looks awesome.
