Answered a lot of questions!
Definitely did the trick for me. He was right about the downloaded instructions having to jump back and forth to figure something out. Very informative book and eventually I'll be able to apply some of the other applications besides just the basics.

An exceptionally well written reference
Forget downloading the official instructions for this camera from the Canon web site. If you want a book that’s comprehensive and clear, this is the one for you.

Live View.
He mentions Live View several times. Basically, on a mirrorless camera it's Live View 100% of the time and is impossible to turn it off. So, for example, he mentions that "In Live View mode, only Evaluative and Center-weighted averaging modes can be selected." This is not true as all metering modes can be selected in this case. Good book otherwise.

Fantastic production quality but not really a book about Canon's R7
This is a great book about the Canon R line in general, and the general information about digital cameras, an Canon's R line is useful, e.g. regarding the menu options. However. It's clear that this book was not conceived as a book about the R7 camera. Instead, the author has recycled his admittedly really great books about other Canon R models (like the R6 [Mark I, not II] and R/RP), and then inserted photos of the R7 model. This does not make this book a work about the R7 in any true sense. While this 'copy paste' approach works in certain chapters - e.g. those explaining aperture mode vs. other modes, or basic equipment - it fails when the author tries to deal with R7 specifics. One glaring example is the advice on lenses - shockingly inaccurate, and clearly not borne out by tried and tested first hand testing with the R7.I'm still giving it 3 stars because I got this for $17, signed with a sweet note by the author, and the production quality is really high, and the book is full of great advice - it's just very generic advice.

All the Answers NOT in the 1000-page Canon Manual
I'm basically a hobbyist photographer with a better than beginner understanding of the elements of photography. However, the Canon user manuals are notoriously difficult to understand. After spending days trying to decipher all the User Guide info, I remembered Busch's books from previous Canon purchases. I bought this as a Kindle version for viewing on an iPad, Surface Go, or even an old Kindle Fire (a Kindle paperwhite misses the color in the color illustrations). This book is amazing. Not only does it FINALLY explain all the items in the camera's menus, it provides recommendations for settings, when to use the settings, and background information (if you want a refresher) on the principles behind the menu items. Seriously, this is the ONLY reference material/guidebook you'll need for your Canon R& (which, by the way, is a pretty nice little camera if you're okay with not having a full frame camera).

A Very Comprehensive to understanding & using this camera
This Canon Model Users Guide continues the same well respected in-depth explanations & examples of using the camera. So much information is covered, in understandable text, that user knowledge is almost as interesting as using the camera itself.

David Busch’s books explain more than the supplied or online manuals.
I get his books on each camera I own.
