Thread size of the fitting, and I feel like Rheem wouldn't change them for home heaters. The other is the capability of the controls to handle the load that this element requires. If this element is less powerful than what you have, it will take longer to heat the water. If it is more you risk burning out the circuits or worse. The edge of the existing element will be marked with its rating - you should get the same rated one. Hopefully the manufacturer answers your question since I have no idea what the model numbers you reference are. I can tell you that I have all too much experience with customers burning their wiring systems up when they tried to install a 15KW heater on a circuit rated for 1.5KW . (KW = Volts x AMPS, so amps = KW/Volts) so 1500/220 = 6.8 AMPS, 15000/220 =68 AMPs, If it is 110 Volts then the amps are doubled. **Q: Can this be installed in other Rheem standard water heater too?** A: These are 1.5” diameter screw in and most water heater elements are 1”. So verify the diameter of yours based on the model number. **Q: Looking for an electronic control for a 50gal. Tank rheem platinum water heater** A: There are several low cost controllers on Amazon that will do the job, provided that they control a SSR (Solid State Relay) rated for the amps needed, there are 2 and 3 pole models rated for 100 AMPS at 220. AMPS = KW/Volts The temperature sensor needs to be located where the water can actually be seen. If you are really Rube Goldberging it, the sensor can be clamped to the fitting as it is exiting the tank, provided said fitting is metal, copper preferred. The sensor needs to be reliable, otherwise you will discover why there is a relief valve on your tank. I recommend that keep the manufacturer's unit but set it for a higher temperature than you wish to control and then use yours to cycle the power.
