Well worth the investment...
I spent far too much money on inferior products trying to figure out what I do and don't like about colored pencils so I decided to stop dilly dallying and buy the big mama-jama with the fancy schmancy case and be done!! Haha.Although I'm a newbie to adult coloring, I'm accustomed to Prismacolor Pencils and, while they're nice, I could immediately tell the difference in these just by the way they feel in my hand. They're heaven. They require a much lighter touch, they're much more pigmented, the dark colors are truly opaque and all colors are more vibrant. I'm still in the learning curve of shading and blending but already getting good results so its just a matter of getting aquatinted. All the leads are perfectly centered and these pencils KEEP THIER POINT MUCH LONGER than PC's, which means less sharpening and a longer lasting pencil. The wood box came perfectly packaged without a scratch. Each pencil is nestled snugly in its slot and you never have to worry about them becoming jumbled in transit. The metal carrying handle rotates within its rounded hinge, so your hand never slips. Even if you dropped it, the metal locks are sturdy and fool proof so random spillage seems unlikely. Twist til it clicks and that's that. There's 6 additional pencil/pen slots and 2 more cubbies (appx 5x2) for erasers and supplies. If I could add anything to this set it would be a paler shade of blue, green, pink and purple. If you're like me and would rather have them than blend them I'd recommend adding Prismacolor 1086 Light Sky Blue, 1089 Pale Sage, 1018 Pink Rose and 934 Lavender. (Polychromos 9201-119 Light Magenta is similar to Prismacolor Lavender but much more pink than purple) I've also heard that Prismacolor White (Blanc) 938 is superior to the Polychromos white but I can't tell you why. This seller only gives one free shipping option with no tracking. My package was ordered 7/5, shipped 7/6, estimated delivery to SC was 7/19 - 8/27 and arrived 8/3 if that helps you estimate. They seem to have the best price so for me, it was worth the wait.Overall, I'd recommend this set to newbies who have the money and don't care to make the mistakes I did and artists who want beautiful storage and sturdy transportation, all-in-one. Money well spent!

The Perfect Set for Both Beginners and Pros
After wasting too much money on cheap colored pencils trying to figure out what I like, I finally decided to go all in and get the best set-with a sturdy, stylish case. These pencils are awesome! You don’t need to press hard, the colors are super vibrant, and the dark ones are actually opaque. The wooden box arrived in perfect condition, with each pencil securely in place. The metal handle is really easy to carry, and the locks are solid, so nothing’s falling out. There’s also room for some pens, erasers, and other small supplies.I’d recommend this set for beginners who can afford it and for more experienced artists who want something both functional and good-looking. Definitely worth it!

Great pencils wooden box nice but bigger than I thought
After seeing reviews of artists who are fans of Prisma color but like I am, they are dismayed by how easy they are breaking along with some other brands. So I ordered these Faber Castell Polychromes. At the time I couldn’t find the tin of them so I ordered the more expensive wooden box as a Christmas present to myself, Now I am not an artist just love coloring. My first reaction was negative in how wide the box is. But I have gotten used to that and love how it opens up to the two levels, very nice. I can pick it up by the handle on the side and then it is thin and sturdy to put between some things to store away, As for the pencils, I like the barrel that is a little thicker then some other brands which is more comfortable for my arthritic hands. These sharpen fine and not the breakage I have been getting with some others. These layer fine with prismacolor and their less expensive Faber Castell goldFaber I can buy individually at the craft store to have more of the brighter most used colors. So bottom line is great pencils, but know you can order then in the tin as well.

OMG so beautiful!
They come in a fantastic wooden box! Very Easy to use and the quality is fantastic as you would expect of faber castell! Blend well and very smooth! A great mix of the full set of polychrome pencils.

Well worth the investment
Like many others, I spent money on less expensive pencils thinking I was saving money. After a short time, I realized that I would have been better off spending the money up front and enjoying the experience of the pencils. They are beautiful, vibrant and easy to work with. I love that you can replace individual pencils as necessary. I also love the extra space on the bottom tier for a little extra storage.

Overwhelming!
The "headline" above was my artist wife's reaction to her birthday/Mother's Day present. I'm not an artist so I'll give you my "art appreciation" take aways: 1. the pencil set is as pretty as a rainbow, 2. the pencils appear to be well constructed and "substantial", 3. the wooden box is heirloom quality, 4. the presentation of the pencils in the box is impressive, 5. the box is easy to transport using the handle on the hinge side if the box.Lastly, as another reviewer commented, the two shelf presentation of the pencils as the box is opened allows the artist to visualize all the available colors at one time (my wife told me that being able to see all the colors at once was important to her).Anyway, it is an "investment" but well worth it IMHO.
