Tilly and the Buttons Sewing Pattern, None, UK 6-20

Made this dress or the top as I wanted to know if I needed a FBA unfortunately I made this in a craft cotton and although I thought it was soft it's not drapy enough for this pattern. The sleeves are a but stiff but making this in a drapier fabric it will be great.Good instructions as always 👍🏼

I’ve been sewing for a few years with a basic machine, but I’ve never been able to follow a pattern because I couldn’t get my head around the instructions. These instructions were easy to follow with photos to help. Very pleased. The dress itself now made is a basic shape, could do with some darts but I guess that comes with more difficult patterns (this one is described as ‘easy’. Took me about 4 hours to make including drawing and cutting out the fabric pattern pieces.

The pattern is good and the instructions are excellent. The ties at the back of the tunic are a nice touch. I found the style of the tunic too boxy for my shape; it fits but it's unflattering on me. I'll probably turn it into a top and add some bust darts.

For beginners the Tilly patterns are great, easy to follow etc. So for that I’ve given 4 stars. The actual design of the dress only gets 2 though, it’s just like a cross between hospital scrubs/hospital gown.

Fantastic versatile dress and top, the instructions are easy to follow and are explained step by step. This dress looks different every time in different fabrics. Highly recommended for either a beginner or an advanced sewer.
