This is a wonderful product due to its large capacity (4 cups) and substantial weight (both the mortar and the pestle). Crushing, grinding, and pulverizing whatever herbs, spices or vegetables you're working with makes a very material difference from chopping or mincing by hand or in a food processor (all of the juices are retained). I've had a mortar and pestle for years but never used it much because it was of small capacity and rather light weight and didn't really do much other than crush very small quantities of seeds. This one is a whole different experience entirely. I broke it in making a batch of guacamole. The garlic and cilantro simply disappeared into a lovely paste. No need to chop beforehand at all. It didn't do as well with the serrano peppers so I will continue to grate those into the mortar. Finally the avocadoes were not particularly ripe but this device turned them into a lovely smooth texture with ease. I will definitely be using this quite a bit. Again, I didn't realize what I was missing since I didn't have a mortar and pestle of this weight, capacity and quality. I definitely recommend it.

This is a really good looking mortar and pestle set. I was impressed by the weight and overall quality. The directions on how to clean, prime and season it were easy to follow and spot on. This set also came with two stick-on pads for the base so the mortar won't scratch the counter or wherever one plans on working with it. The handy garlic peeler was a bonus. I tried it and it works well..With all the new Mexican dishes I plan on trying, this set will surely give me the spice blends needed to enhance the flavor. It's a good buy and I recommend it.

This is perfect. I am a big fan of Williams Sonoma but I cannot justify paying upwards of $75+ dollars for a Mortar and Pestle. This thing is the perfect size. Many others are just too big. The rock is solid and I love the way it looks. It works well.

I purchased the 4-cup size of the mortar and pestle for my husband. He is very happy that it's large enough to not only used easily with herbs, but also for dishes like guacamole, which require this kind of capacity. It's so good-looking, we've left it on our kitchen counter. The "seasoning" that's required before use is not unusual or a big deal. Highly recommended.

Love how it works. It is the perfect size to work with! I use it to prepare garlic for my garlic butter. One major problem was the pestle rolling off the counter one time and it broke. I glued it back together. Luckily I don't need to be too hard with it. The set cleans up with ease!

Wow this is nice! It worked extremely well to crush meds for my horse. It is heavy duty and nice looking as well. I am very pleased with this purchase.

I'm very happy with this mortar and pestal set. I bought the 2 cup size, which is big enough for making pesto and grinding spices. It's sturdy and quite heavy. I'm impressed with the quality.
