Not exactly what I expected, but it's still cute
I mainly got this apron thinking it'd be cute and functional for gardening or going out to collect the eggs. I thought the pockets would be a little bigger and hold more, and I think the pattern made them a little too gathered/I think they would have looked cuter if they were flatter. Still cute and I will wear it though! It's just not quite as functional as I'd expected. I don't know if my apron looks so different from the photo in the other review because the other version has a less full skirt, or...I don't see what I could have done wrong :SI'm by no means a pro seamstress, but I've sewed a number of garments over the years more complicated than this and have been able to follow those patterns easily. This one I had a hard time following sometimes. I forget which part it was now, but for some of the seams there was no indication in the instructions or on the pattern piece what the seam allowance should be, so I just assumed 5/8".I also made some adjustments to avoid any visible raw edges (french seams in the main skirt pieces instead of standard seams, I didn't cut the fabric out from under the contrast band like the instructions say to). I also cut double the tie/strap pieces so they could be lined instead of having the wrong side of the fabric showing). It worked out and i'm glad I did it that way, as I think it made for a much more polished looking apron. If I ever use this pattern again/try to make another one I may try to play around with making my own pocket pattern. Make them bigger and maybe either gather the bottom edge, or put some darts in so they stick out/have some real storage space.
