Best fire starter ever!
Holy cow! I easily made a fire every time. Way more fun than a lighter, and it actually works!I added it to my camping essentials.I watched a video that said the forked end is for digging tiny holes, lmao! It's for scraping a little extra magnesium onto the frayed rope end for an easy light.

The King of fire starters!
I have used many types of fire starters over the last 30 plus years. And I can honestly say this one is one of the best I have tried to date. There are many fire steels out there that are quite good. And most can get the job done under most weather conditions. However the difference between a good fire rod and a great one is the ease in which it starts the fire. Does it take 5 to 10 strikes to ignite your birds nest material? Or just one strike? Because with this particular rod and striker it's usually one strike and your of to the races! The rope design which acts like a large candle wick ignites immediately every time! Giving you a nice big hot flame to light your birds nest or even small kindling wood very quickly! Honestly this thing is the king of fire starting kits of you ask me. Prior to this coming along. My favorite was the "Lighting Strike" fire starter. For those that know about that model? It's also quite good. I would say among one of the best next to this one. However this model is a way better value considering its well thought out design and function! Nothing against the "Lightning Strike" model. But this one out performs it at half the price! I paid around $60.00 for the Lighting Strike" model when it came out. And I believe they still sell for around $55.00 on average today. Works great like a said. But a bit pricey. If I had to choose between the two I would take this one every time! Hands down the better design.I'm actually going to buy a second one just to have it tucked away as a backup. Or incase I misplace or lose the first one.

will never buy something diffrent
The Fire Starter Survival Tool is an absolute game-changer for anyone who loves spending time in the great outdoors. As an avid camper and hiker, I've tried my fair share of fire-starting methods, but this all-in-one flint and steel fire starter kit is hands down the most reliable and convenient option I've come across. What impresses me most about this tool is its simplicity and effectiveness. With just a few strikes of the ferro rod against the included steel scraper, I can produce a shower of sparks that easily ignite tinder and kindling, even in challenging conditions like wind or rain. Whether I'm camping in the backcountry or enjoying a weekend getaway in the wilderness, I can always count on this fire starter to quickly and effortlessly create a warm and comforting campfire.Another highlight of this fire starter is its durability and portability. The compact size and lightweight design make it easy to carry in my backpack or pocket, ensuring that I always have a reliable means of starting a fire wherever I go. The robust construction of the ferro rod and scraper inspires confidence, knowing that this tool can withstand the rigors of outdoor use without fail.

pretty cool fire starter
I purchased the smaller version of this fire starter. I needed something to keep in my camping gear. I love the wick system as it means you always have tinder to start your fire. This was the reason i purchased this particular fire starter. The instructions say it has a serrated edge to help fray the wick but mine was completely smooth. Both photos on amazon as well as the included instructions both say it has the serrated edge but it does not. I had to fray out the wick by hand (which wouldn't be hard if it weren't covered in the wax.). Once you get the wick started it is definitely wind proof. I had my two boys try their hardest to blow out the flame and they couldn't. Before being able to throw sparks, you have to get the black glossy paint removed from the ferro rod. sparks are easy to make with this but it takes some practice to aim them right at the wick. This is a very cool product, I do think it is over-priced for what it is (especially for its small size) other than those coupe of things it is a great fire starter.

Bought this for my bugout bag
After looking at the alternatives and watching videos I decided to purchase this item. I like the included easy-to-light rope which means you always have material to light. You can even use it like a candle. The size isn't tiny, but it's easy to hold and strike. Seems to be built really well. Excellent value. Very sparky!

By far the best fire starter on earth.
This is an incredible item that will start thousands of fires simply. It's almost a never ending fire starter but the ferrocerium rod will eventually widdle down. Buy a roll of jute rope and soak it in mixture of wax and liquid parrafin and you'll have a never ending way of starting your fires. This one is definitely my favorite ferro rod combo and it effortlessly starts the rope every time. I bought 4 of them to make sure all my survival bags have one and put one in my car. They sell rope replacement too and I bought 3 of them. This fire starter is incredibly durable and exquisite value. The rod is about 1/2 inch by 6 inch and the rope is 1/4 inch thick. Just simply fray the end of the rope and strike is and you have fire. Looks and feels amazing. Not to heavy or light. I absolutely recommend these and for those on the fence buy it, you'll love it. I'm buying a few more for bartar when shtf. These will be a great trade item.

Excellent product to have.
Absolutely love this product, I ordered a second one. It’s quick and easy to start a fire, the flames created is pretty big to burn wood fast. I highly recommend for camping! It is small, light and wouldn’t take up any room in your bag., literally fits in your back pocket. Quality of the product is not cheap, whatsoever. Purchase these just to have, you won’t regret it.
