This leather notebook cover exceeded my expectations! It's very good quality, smells like real leather. It's nice and thick with good stitching. It came with a nice pen that writee well and a lined notebook. I bought it to use with my ESV Illuminated Scripture Journal and it fits well. The refillable notebook came packaged in a drawstring cotton bag which was a nice touch as well. Well done Moonster!

The leather cover smells great and feels great. The size is perfect for me to put in my tennis bag or ruck-sack whenever I travel for holiday, tennis tournaments, or tennis practice.The OEM Moonster notebook, which comes with the journal, is high quality, and it is fountain pen friendly; however, I only use TomoeRiver 52gm2 paper; because, I only use sheen fountain pen ink for my LAMY fountain pens; and, the TomoeRiver 52gm2 paper does a good job in complimenting the sheen in my fountain pen ink; hence, I replaced the Moonster OEM notebook with my TomoeRiver 52gm2 notebook (A5), and it fits perfectly in the leather journal cover’s sleeves.I like the leather strap; it does a good job in keeping the leather journal’s flaps wrapped and closed during my travels.My only request is to make the pen-loop bigger for fountain pens.Surprisingly, the Moonster pen, which comes with the journal, writes surprisingly well — it’s smooth. I use it as my vehicle-pen when I drive around and need to jot something down.I’m very pleased with this leather journal cover made by Moonster. I liked it so much, I purchased one for my girlfriend and my tennis coach.Check 6!/s/ Alfonso Faustino

This notebook is gorgeous! The leather is nice and thick, and it doesn’t scratch easily so i can carry it around inside my bag that is full of pointy items. I’ve received many compliments, and I’ve recommended it to some peers. Would love for the brand to send me another one, as im a promoter, since im almost out of pages! :) i recommend getting it!

Technically, I'd give this journal 4 1/2 stars. The leather cover itself is 5 stars, absolutely beautiful and well crafted. It's supple, yet thick enough to truly protect the contents and provide a stable surface for the journal and writing. You are able to bend the flap so that it lies beneath the open journal while writing/drawing, if you'd like it tucked out of the way. The leather thong feels as though it will be strong enough to survive many years of use.The journal itself is also lovely. The paper has a wonderful handcrafted feel. It does have some tooth to it, but not so much as to interfere with smooth writing and with sketching. The thickness of the pages is also--for the most part--great; I typically write with a gel pen, and I do not experience and bleed through. As the paper is handcrafted, there are occasional pages with very thin bits or small pieces missing. However, I would say I only had 4 or 5 pages with these issues in the entire journal, and I was still able to use those pages, just working around the issues on the given page. The paper works wonderfully for colored pencil, ink and wash, and some types of watercolor, though this is my subjective opinion. If you prefer smooth Bristol paper, you'll obviously be disappointed.One of the other things I love about this journal is the fact that the journal itself can be replaced. I have had many lovely leather journals in the past, but I'm always hesitant to use them, as I haven't wanted to "mess them up." Knowing the journal isn't a permanent fixture in the cover, I am happy to sketch and write as I see fit, unconcerned with "mistakes" or unfinished pieces. And with the quality of the cover, I know it will survive through many future journals.All in all, I was so happy with the journal that I ordered another for a family member. They are just as delighted with their journal, using it for writing and art. They have only found issues with the paper when they used marker heavily in an area (it's fine to use marker as long as you don't leave it sitting in one spot so long as to bleed or layer repeatedly in the same area), and when they worked over the same area of the page repeatedly with inktense (pencils which you then paint with) and other media. As mentioned earlier, it's a fairly smooth for handcrafted paper, but it's not Bristol smooth, so it does not work as well for all types of drawing. But overall, it's a terrific journal, whether you want to explore writing or art. Highly recommend!

Bought for my aunt’s wedding to give to the groom. He absolutely loved it and the material is amazing. Definitely worth the price and after searching other products this was the one for him.
