Amazing
Had a big rat issue last year after my cat sadly got killed on the road. This autumn l caught 14 rats in two weeks, I still put it out by the hens but not catching any since.I use strawberry jam, they can’t resist it!I’d say once the cold weather starts, they’ll get hungry and get trapped as they’re coming in from the fields now.The trap appears flimsy but it’s excellent.

Rats too clever but I am patient
Even though we have not trapped a rat yet - this trap's mechanism works well, and the trap itself it is easy to set up. Just 1 robin got trapped which was a shock, but we let it go immediatley and it was fine. Rats are very clever, none of the food titbits put inside the trap were eaten. After reading up about how rats will avoid these type traps (possibly because of human smells?) I have decided to leave the trap 'unset' in the garden. So it weathers, and the rats get accustomed to it being there without being any threat. I am patient. Rats arrived in our small back garden because of our dear elderly neighbour was feeding birds - bread nuts etc on the ground all day long. Rats were seen frequenting her bird feeding spot/s. Yet they chose to chew through into our two sheds, deck area and a couple of gravel boards. All needed reparing and some pieces replacing.I still can recommend this trap because it works, just to catch the rats!

Not great for outdoors
Great simple idea, sensitive to the slightest touch, worked really well, only problem I had was it was left outside and a squirrel got in and this size cage was to small and the squirrel bent all the fitments while it was thrashing about, this is ideal for indoors to catch smaller rodents, thankfully our little ratty friend has found its way in the sun house, so I'll have to buy another and hopefully catch him/her/they/that in there.

It works!
Had to leave a trail of food for the rat to lure him to the cage - he had already been spooked by a poorer-quality trap slamming down when he'd climbed on the top of that trap.I strongly recommend the gingbau trap if you want to dispatch a live rat safely. Once the rat is in the trap, place it in a bucket and cover with a towel to calm the creature, then release into the wild.

It works
A well made product. I had a rat(s) living under my bird feeder, it had been there for ages getting fat from all the debris falling down. Eventually it got more and more confident, coming out in the daytime etc. The misses decided it was time for it to move on. I didn't want to kill it so decided to give this a try. First few days it ignored it as there were rich pickings still to be had from the bird feeder. So I started to take the bird feeder in at night. It still ignored it, so I covered the trap with a bit of ply so it wasn't so exposed. I also put a trail of peanuts at the entrance going in, with a dollop of peanut butter on the actual trap trigger. Last night I caught the bugger and today he was relocated to the woods 5 miles away. I can recommend this humane trap, but just realise you will have to be patient and persistent as rats are very clever!
