I got these during a major ant infestation and put my cat dishes on them. A few days later there were no ants on their food. But ant infestations come and go, so who knows if the disc had anything to do with it? But wait--what's this? Every time the cats spill a bit of food on the floor, *that* food is covered in ants, while the main dish of food stays ant-free.I don't know how it works, but it definitely works.

Update July 20:Shortly after I posted my review below, I noticed that I didn't have any ants. I also noticed the mounds outside my home where they had been coming from, were vacant of ants. I'm thinking that my neighbors with a better landlord had the ants coming in their home and reported it to their landlord. Then a good pest control came and eliminated the colony. I'm grateful. So, I don't think this product stopped the ants. However, for the few days I still found ants coming in, they weren't making it to the top of the deterrent plate. And they were less in numbers. So, I feel it's a good product to keep ants off of what's on the plate. You'll just need to address the ant problem directly.Original review June 15:Desperate to rid my home of ants, I bought one of these for each cat dish. My cats are grazers and putting away their dishes "after they eat" isn't feasible.For the first 7-10 days, there were still a few scout ants coming to the feed dish area. I had been repelling the ants to some degree of success from March to mid-June by spraying white vinegar on my bare floors. The vinegar helped if applied liberally and regularly, but didn't stop the ants.After I began using these plates, I kept applying the vinegar on the floor where they come in and their path to the cat food dishes. And after about 7-10 days, no ants. It was also a cool spell. So I wasn't sure if the temps were enough to keep them away, or if the plates worked.For the past week it's been very hot and usually the ants come looking for food at the cat food stations. I haven't seen a single one in more than one week.I feel so confident that I'm done with ants that today I swept and "mopped" my floors for the first time in months! I believe that this will be effective against most ants. It is important that you don't allow the plate to be near any other surfaces that the ants can crawl on to get onto the plate. I also am diligent about clearing any spilled food my cats don't eat. Thankfully, they're pretty good about eating the food they put on the floor.I recommend this plate. No water to dry and make it ineffective, no gels, no smells, no maintenance except to wipe off the surface and clean up fallen cat kibble.

These actually work for protecting pet food from ants!But you absolutely have to make 100% sure that the edge does not touch anything. All it takes is one little "bridge" for the ants to get to your food.I liked them so much I bought more. I use them for feeding garden cats and indoor cats if the ants come inside.

These trays work miracles. The ants would devour my cats' food. I bought these trays, and no more ants.

After reading reviews I was so hopeful and the results were as expected until week later - After giving my cat his wet food about an hour ago I just walked past the dish on the tray and IT WAS COVERED WITH ANTS!

Editing my review: After several weeks of continued use, I had no more problems with any ants reaching my pet's food bowl. I'm not sure why there was a problem in the beginning, but it's worked quite well since then._________________________________________I really wanted this to work. Set a fresh, clean bowl of cat food on the base and within an hour there was an ant crawling on the bowl. This thing wasn’t cheap, so pretty disappointing. Save your money.
