This is a really great plate for the Cotton Carrier
This is a really great plate for the Cotton Carrier. When I originally got the carrier it only came with a smaller plate, which necessitated attaching the holster clip to the plate and then the tripod mount to that clip. This was really unwieldily and unstable and was frankly a PITA to keep attaching and removing every time I switched on to the tripod or on to the belt. The beauty of this plate is that it provides support across a greater area and has a section where the holster clip sits, as well as a section where the Manfrotto tripod mount sits, and you never have to alter them. You can access the battery door easily as well. This is very well thought out and will be on my camera for all time!!!

Well made. Still working on getting it to work with my camera.
Updated Review: July 10th, 2014It occurs to me that someone with the vertical grip for the A77 would be able to use this plate on the vertical grip's tripod mount. It would not block the battery door since the door is on the side.Updated Review: July 4th, 2014Okay, I've gotten the cotton carrier universal adapter plate to work on my Sony alpha A77 by using an intermediate adapter plate, the Neewer PU70. Mainly, I'm making use of the PU70's additional mounting holes to allow me to mount the Cotton Carrier plate to the Neewer plate. Then the Cotton Carrier Hub mounts to the Cotton Carrier Universal Adapter plate and my tripod's Arca Swiss style plate with clearances for retension pins is mounted onto the Cotton Carrier Universal Adapter plate. To make the whole thing work, I needed to pickup a couple of Button Head, Socket Cap Screws(1/4-20 , half inch length ).Overall, not a bad setup, very sturdy. A bit bulkier than I had wanted, but a good solution that lets me use the Cotton Carrier vest and my Arca-Swiss style clamps.Suggestion to Cotton Carrier:* Machine the plate to allow for retention pins.* Add more 1/4-20 threaded holes( perhaps some non-threaded holes) so that the adjustment can be shifted left/right so that battery doors can be cleared.Revised the review to 4 stars out of give because this is a great piece of machined aluminum. But leaving one star off because the focus on compatibility seems to be on tripods, but they missed the mark with regards to retention pins as well as with regards to being compatible with more camera body bases.Original Review:Just got mine delivered this afternoon. Lovely and very sturdy. Just one problem:No matter how i orient it on my Sony Alpha A77, it blocks the battery door from opening. :( no mention of this on any website.Trying to figure out the best way to get it on without blocking the battery door, as i like the cotton carrier hub and arca swiss mount plate combo. Will update my review after i try out a few more ideas.

A litle too shart, and there is an alternative
I have a CC and really like it, but I do like to use my Tripod too sometimes. This CC adapter works, but is a bit short, as many have noted. Interestingly enough, there is an alternative (the Nicama RL1 Camera Tripod Adapter - B09YDL7FLX). If you look at the photos I attached, you can see how much longer the Nicama adapter plate is over the CC plate. The CC round hub attaches just perfectly to the Nicama and it all functions perfectly. I would recommend the Nicama over the CC adapter plate. My only qualm about the Nicama is that it's just a bit thicker than it needs to be. As for weight, the CC is 69.3g with the gasket and 58.1 without it. The Nicama is 91.2g, so it does add more weight.

Works perfectly
If you have a small camera, this probably isn't for you. I am using it with a Panasonic G9, and I am still able to access the battery compartment. There are times when I prefer using a tripod, especially with video but also with photo. I followed the online video instructions, and the device allows me to connect to the cotton carrier and then go directly to the tripod. I am very satisfied with this product.

Fitting takes time - needs a tension control arca release
Wonderful - after some considerable time fitting it to the camera. My primary obstacle was that I use a camera cage. Once I figured out that it fits great to the SmallRig cage, IF it's mounted backwards, then all was fine. My other concern was that someone had reported having to grind down the plate to fit the Arca quick release. I had no issues with my primary tripod head, but it has tension control and allowed the Arca quick release to adjust to the plate. My other tripod has a fixed Arca quick release and will not fit the Cotton Carrier tripod Arca-type adapter plate. But I was going to upgrade it to a tension control head anyway, so it had no impact. I can now go directly from the holster to the tripod in a flash.Note to self: Disconnect the tether before stepping away from the tripod.

The Universal Adapter gives you more options for what you ...
The Universal Adapter gives you more options for what you hang off your camera. My configuration is a wrist strap, a Black Rapid strap and the occasional tripod mount plate. Using the Universal Plate lets me use all three options at once. My only gripe, and it's a small on, is that the holes are too close. I can foresee the time I want to put another option on the plate and it won't fit because the holes are too close. But as of now, it tics all the boxes I need. That said, it is expensive, but it is well made. I guess you can't complain about quality.
