I have a dog that gets matted fairly easily and his groomer uses this to dematt him before trimming and she had recommended it to me for a very large cat that I have who has issues reaching his back side which causes matting. I got it right from the mailbox and used it and instantly fell in love. It’s easy to use, the handle makes for easy holding and no slipping and the amount of hair it removes is amazing! He had two decently sized large matts that were pulled away from the skin and removed within one minute. No trying to hold and get the scissors to cut them out with leaving the source so close to the skin. It worked amazing for us! Can’t wait to use it on my dog as well to make life a little easier for his groomer!

Love it! I have a Maine Coon with very fine down and he develops small mats behind his front legs, in front of his rear legs, and sometimes on his belly. My old methods were not effective because he is more impatient than my previous Maine Coons. So I found this tool and thought I would try it.I was upset when I took it out because the blades face up instead of down. This makes it nearly impossible to use, even left-handed (and I am right-handed). For a cat, you will need to be behind him and rake towards yourself to maintain control. Well, I saw the nut on the top and bingo! Take the nut off and you can disassemble the comb and put the blades back on on in any of four ways you want! Now it works fantastically- best dematting tool I have ever used. So much easier than trying to pick them out with a wide comb or cut them out.

I have a 16 year old cat who tends to develop fur mats due to her decreased mobility. this comb helped get them out and keep new ones from forming. if the mat is especially large, we start from the edges first otherwise it'll pull her fur and hurt (which is the nature of fur mats, not the product).

UPDATE with my original review below. I've learned to use this dematter in a different way than I previously had been. Instead of just combing through and expecting the blades to cut, I realized they're serrated so you have to do a saw-like motion. It has helped him be a little more tolerant and presumably comfortable, but it's not completely pain free for him and he only tolerates it for a few minutes at most. It doesn't come with instructions for effective use which I think is the bigger problem. Maybe I'm still not using it correctly! But it's hard to say without instructions.~~~ (original review below) ~~~I've got a schnauzer with the typical schnauzer beard. It gets very matted under his chin and I often have to cut it off entirely. I was really excited to try this based on reviews, but we haven't had the same easy experience that the other reviewers have talked about. This is definitely an effective dematter but it will take several days (and many treats!) to get through all of the mats. It's uncomfortable for him but it does seem to be working at picking the mats apart as we take it slowly.

Makes my life with doodles sooo much easier. Instead of just pulling, I can “saw” out the knots they inevitably get with this brush. I should’ve had one all along and then maybe the groomer wouldn’t have had to keep cutting their hair so short!

We’re amazed by how well this comb works! Our white Goldendoodle is prone to heavy matting, and every grooming session used to end with her completely shaved. After trying countless tools, we finally found this comb and it truly delivers. Her coat is now soft, smooth, and mat-free. Just be cautious, the blades are sharp, so use the thumb rest for safety while grooming. I’m extremely happy with this purchase and highly recommend it to other doodle owners!

Yes it’s the best comb I have to brush my golden doodles thick curly fur! Combined with the bio silk for dogs detangle spray. I realize it’s so good cause it’s so sharp, I cut my finger cleaning the blade so be careful !

This comb works to get the dead hair out. My 4 year old shihpoo did not complain or run away when I used it on her. She did not have mats, just some thick hair that needed to be combed through. The first time I used it one of the teeth got bent to the side. I had to pull it back to align it with the rest of the teeth. Other than that, it worked well.
