ASICS GT-2000 5 Men's Running Shoe

Update 2016-12-08Just got blue pair I ordered and they look really good too. These blue colored versions will go good with a lot of my athletic attire.See 13 pics attached. The pics with Under Armour leggings are with a different shoe not the Asics but will look good with these blue Asic GT-2000 5s.######################I've been a Nike shoe fan for many years and always ran in neutral shoes...Recently I've had issues with over pronation ( foot rolling inward at ankle ) which required a shoe with " motion control ".Nike used to make running shoes with " motion control " that were very good 6 yrs ago but stopped for some reason making them. I just ran out of my supply of shoes. ( I stock up on shoes once I find pairs that I like, are comfortable, have great cushion, stability, arch support & motion control ).I discovered Brooks Beast 14s & 16s late August and Brooks GTS 17s in late October and they are phenomenal running shoes ( see my reviews for Beast 16s & GTS 17s for more details ).Love Brooks Beast 16s for cushion, support & stability.Love Brooks GTS 17s because they are light and have excellent but a little less cushion, support & stability than Beast 16s...I also like having various styles of running shoes and flexibility to alternate and use different pairs depending on mood and/or style want to wear on any given day.I just learned about Asics' GT-2000 5 & GEL-Foundation 12s about a week earlier.2016-12-08 Update:I just received the blue version of the same shoe and the look great. The blue version will also match my blue Under Armour leggings too.See pics###########################AsicGT 2000 5s are equivalent to Brooks GTS 17Foundation 12s are equivalent to Beast 16sI just received my first pair of GT-2000 5:They are very comfortable, snug and fit very good right out of the box, yet they are not too tight.There's plenty of room in the toe box area and the heels are snug and feel great inside the heel cup.The shoes look very good, cushion is good but feels a little squishy all around the heel area, but not as squishy as the Asic Keyano 23s.While arch support is there, it feels a lil weak.I'll wear them around inside house for awhile before taking them outside, just in case arch support and possibly cushion isn't firm enough and I have to return shoes to get full refund.Real test will come when used outside for several consecutive miles in one session...My initial impression of the GT-2000 5s is they are a very good looking shoe, feel great, are very comfortable; however, I think they may not be as comfortable on a 3 to 7 mile walk or run as cushion & arch support may compress or collapse too much.I'm a big guy so if you're light, then it probably won't matter as much...I bought following Brooks since 8.30.16 because once I find a shoe that fits and feels good, I load up on them.2 - beast 14s ( different colors )7 - beast 16s ( different colors )2 - gts 17s. ( different colors )I bought following Asics couple of days ago:GT-2000 5 - 1 BlackGT-2000 5 - 1 BlueFoundation 12 - 112s won't be shipped until 1.4.17.As mentioned earlier the GT-2000 5s feel great out of the box and that is a good sign. Hope they feel just as great after 3 to 8 mile walk and/or run.Highly recommend you try them if you're in the market for brand new pair of shoes that are stable and have cushion but are not too ridgid...Beast 16s Extreme Motion Control, Cushion & Stability.Beast 14s same as 16s, but less: Motion Control, Cushion & Stability, but still good.GTS 17s are very light compared to Beast 14s & 16s and have less Motion Control, Cushion and Stability than 14s or 16s yet they are still exceptional. I wear GTS 17s every day, every where primarily because they are 99% all black.Asic GT-2000 5s are equivalent to Beast GTS 17s, but feel more cushy & slightly less ridgid and less arch support, but they are good.Foundation 12s are equivalent to Beast 16s and should be more sturdy & more ridgid, yet have more cushion, arch support and motion control than GT-2000 5. I've not received them yet so I only know what I've read and have been told by retailer which I trust because they have demonstrated integrity and have good credibility...Best of success in whatever you end up with...

First, I LOVE ASICS GT2000's. I had the 4 and have the 5, going on 3 pair now.PROS:-Fit great, especially the instep for me-Superb pronation protection-Good arch support in the right place for my foot-Ran in Rain, got them wet with lawn dew, and no mold/mildew issues unlike Nike & New Balance running shoes I've had b4 ASICS.CONS:-Material on bottom wears very quickly. I jog 2 miles once or twice, and walk 1/2 hour 5 days a week and use this as my walking shoe and it's pretty much loses it's tread in 4-5 months. I can't image it lasting long if you are a serious runner on hardtop.-Expensive for the materialNow, why did I rate THIS 1 star? Because you go into a store and fit and every time it's been the perfect shoe.I bought this online and it had some really harsh material in the area just around my big toe knuckle that tore my skin raw with one day wearing, so I returned them.Bottom line, I don't trust buying a shoe un-tried here. Maybe the one I got was defective, but that worries me that I've had 3 perfect shoes and one terrible one. Are they selling their defective ones on Amazon? IDK. Not going to try it again. I'll give a store my business.I'm also looking into other brands in the hopes they last longer.

These just arrived today, so I haven't gone out on the road and broken them in yet, but I've been wearing them ever since they arrived earlier today and I've got to say I love them...! The fit is perfect, and the cushioning is great, at least for just walking around at this point. I've been wearing ASICS ever since the GT series came out, and was totally at a loss as to what to replace them with when the GT-2170's were discontinued. Luckily, ASICS came out with the GT-2000 4's which everyone said was virtually identical to the GT-2170's in fit and cushioning, so I picked up a pair of those and found they were right. Then I picked up a second pair of the GT-2000 4's to rotate to help extend their life. I usually run 5 miles a day or so as a base distance, and then as the warmer weather arrives, I ramp up to as much as 20 miles a run on asphalt and concrete surfaces. So, not only is good fit important to me, but having excellent cushioning is a high priority as well. I always replace the insole with a better, thicker, more shock absorbing one, but the shoe itself has got to have good cushioning itself before I do that upgrade. After wearing these for most of the day now, I can say they fit perfect, the cushioning feels great, and I'm keeping 'em..! Highly recommended... ;-)

Overall I'm happy with this running shoe. I wore out a couple of GT-1000 3's which I was very happy with. They lasted, and provided great support. The construction of the shoes seems similar. One very important thing to note is that my version 3's were size 8.5, and fit perfectly. Ordered the same size and should have paid attention to other reviews. 8.5 is a bit tight, but I'm going to keep these anyway and use for walking, not running. I did not request a return. Seller emailed me several times asking if everything was OK and offering help if not. As mentioned I chose not to return. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 only because it's difficult for me to rate a running shoe as soon as I purchase it. In my opinion, they have to be evaluated over time. That may not seem fair, but I'm being urged to post a review, and if so, that's how it's gonna be.

Used to be a great shoe but after years and many pairs, ASICS has been fooling around with the sizing and I've gone from wearing 10.5 (model 3) to 11 (model 4), to now 11.5 with the model 5 (but with too much lateral room in the toe-box). My feet stopped growing 30 years ago in case you're wondering.Also, with the 5s, the padded part of the ankle has shredded, exposing the foam, after only 300km. This has never happen to me with previous models of the GT-2000s.Looking for a new brand.
