Whats the difference between the original and new version?

I'm not sure if they're show the proper new version. They both look the same to me. I have the one's shown. So I would go with the lower priced one. Unless it reads something different in the description. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Again with what they're showing it appears to be the same. Either way I like the handy little tool.

Is this really made in USA?

Don’t know. Returned it cause it’s really tough to use. It’s a freehand device and just too clumsy. Instead I bought a general tools&instruments Pro dowling jig and it’s great for five dollars more. It’s clamps well and much easier to use. It’s in New Jersey but can’t tell where it was made.

If there is no difference between the old and new version, how do you justify the massive difference in price?

Yeah, usually you'd think there'd be some significant difference. Don't know what the might be, I can only offer my positive experience with the cheaper kit.
