What is the largest size of the box you can make?

It would depend on whether you make a one piece box or use several individual pieces. I would estimate the largest one piece box would be 3 inches square(a cube). If you decide to go the piece route, you probably could make it 10 inches square if you made a piece for each side of the square. If you go for a rectangle, you could probably go for a box 6 inches long and 3 inches high. Hope this gives you some idea.

What is the 12v battery (listed in the product description) needed for?

I do not know. I did not see that in the description. There is no battery needed for this tool. It is a manual scoring board. There is a scoring board and a bone folder and that is all. Both work great. Nothing else is needed.

does unit come with a scoring tool?

Yes the yellow object at the top is your scoring tool and I also use my boning tool. You love it I do!

Can you use the included tool for cleans cuts, as well as the scoring?

I use mine to score scrapbooking paper. But if I press too hard it ends up cutting the paper as well. Not a clean cut as scissors would do.
