We designed, hammered and twisted 16 gauge sterling silver wire to handmake this Yin Yang small shawl pin. We smoothed all the edges so that it will not catch on your shawl. We call this one "little" because it is significantly smaller and lighter than the 12 gauge version. It would work well on light, lacy fingering weight knitting.It is part of our "Little" series of pins and would not work well for a heavy chunky type shawl. The pin measures about 1 5/8 - 2" (3.9 -5.1 cm) long and about 3/4 - 7/8" (1.8 - 2.2cm) across the widest part. The stick pin part with the spiral on top that slips through the main design to secure the pin is about 2 3/8 - 2 1/2" (6.1 - 6.3 cm) long. Every item is handmade by us so there are some slight variations in size which is why we give the range of sizes the item will be. If you need it to be an exact size please contact us and we can make sure it is the size you need. It is helpful to pull out a ruler when you read the measurements so that you can get a true sense of size since it's often hard to tell just from photos. It can be worn as a sweater brooch too!This pin would work best on a knit or crocheted open weave type garment and is not intended for tightly woven cloth fabric. All our jewelry comes wrapped in colorful tissue paper, in a nice gift box and tied with a bow ready for gift giving. This pin is also available in light weight and less expensive aluminum. The pin in the pictures is a representative pin and not the exact same one that you will receive. We hand make each pin and try hard to make them look the same.
