Works great!
Works great, should have bought it sooner. The only issue is if your filament breaks after passing through the sensor.

Great upgrade
The sensor is a bit if a hassle to install. It’s not difficult but it does require some disassembly. It took approximately 30 minutes install and reassemble. The firmware was slightly more challenging, at least for me. I used the Marlin firmware from the guy in Australia who does the firmware updates daily. When I first installed the new firmware, I started a test cube. After the BL Touch checked the bed, it went to the left edge of the bed to run the prime line. When it got to the back of the bed it stopped and went into the change filament mode. I fussed with it for three days. Finally I went through the change filament process, resumed the print and it works perfectly. I have been using a PLA + that is brittle and it does break frequently. I’m glad to have the sensor on both of my Enders.

not plug and play, somewhat difficult to set up
the product works well but you have to know how to code to set it up, there are instructions on where to download the firmware from Crealities website but it does not work and they have to start a work order to get you the firmware, it took a few days for myself to learn how to code and after watching a million videos and talking to a lot of people I was able to get it working and it works well. I wish it was just plug-and-play but it is not

Works well
works as designedsometimes need to slightly bend filament end to get it to go througheasy to install if you are use to upgrading your printer components.

Jams every time
Very poor design. The end of a filament will have more curve to it from being smaller circles closest to the center.Every time the filament runs out, I end up having to disassemble the whole mess. Instead of going straight back through the tube it takes one of several routes. The included pictures are one of the less awful ways it jams since it's relatively easier to fix. It still requires grabbing the Allen wrench and pulling things apart mid print. The really awful ways it can jam requires needle nose pliers and praying you don't break something with how horribly stuck everything gets.I have let several spiols run through it, and have yet to have a single successful filament swap.Save your money, skip this runout sensor. Look up one of the several DIY solutions available with an octopi

Takes a while to install
Everything fits and looks good, but its not an easy install. This sensor IS NOT OPTICAL, its a micro switch that touches the filament.

It does the job
I bought this thinking that it would be much easier to install than a lot of the DIY options out there, but I was absolutely wrong. It does indeed come with a mount that fits the Ender 3 V2; however, it requires a complete disassembly of the X gantry. There is a video I found (after I already finished) by Yoram Swiers on YouTube called "How to install filament sensor | Ender 3 V2" that I HIGHLY recommend watching before buying this and attempting the installation. Not knowing what I was doing, it took me nearly 2 hours of fiddling to get it completely installed. The instructions included are only for how to find firmware; however, you would be better off installing the mriscoc professional firmware instead. In that firmware, be sure to make sure filament detection is on and that it's set to LOW and not High or Motion. If it's triggering when it shouldn't, use High instead. Motion does not work with this type of sensor at all.

Another great upgrade for my ender 3 pro
As far as I know I now have most or all of the Creality upgrades available for my ender 3 pro, with this in mind I struggle with the firmware, they didn't seem to have the file which related to all of the upgrade combinations I have on their website. After talking to Creality tech support over a period of a couple of days they managed to provide the firmware that matched my hardware. Although it worked, it sometimes crashed , so I took the bull by the horns and ended up adapting my own from source. Now it works better than it ever did.Really happy with it now, I dont blame Creality as I think it may have been a language barrier which caused a lot of the confusion. All in all the machine works really wel , and I happy with it.

First upgrade I’ve bought that wasn’t worth the hassle
I have a very pimped-out Ender 3, I bought this really just to complete the build. It’s a pain to be honest - hard to push filament through, and tricky to find firmware that works with the upgraded board and the bltouch and this all at the same time. I bought it and am not using it, perhaps that’s all you need to know!
