Silencer is a realistic, educational and entertaining excellent read.
Silencer is my 4th Nick Stone book, and I found it to be excellent. McNab's writing is full of information and education as well as action. He always goes into the detail of both planning and tactical considerations, and does it with realism. That approach is absolutely educational and skipped by most action authors. I expect it is because he actually knows exactly what he's talking about based upon his own experiences. In this book we are also educated in specifics of human trafficking, the body organ business, and some realities of the drug trade. We also see details of Moscow, Hong Kong, Moldova (that one's a real downer), and Acapulco, otherwise known as Narcopulco as these locales tie directly into this story line. McNab writes with a constant sense of humor and dry, realistic observations which adds to the enjoyment of his books. His characters are very well drawn, even with some of the bad ones having some admirable traits. Bottom line, Silencer is a realistic, educational and entertaining excellent read.

Good read, but not one of the finest McNab's
Not the best mcNab - always enjoy reading about Nick Stone's exploits, but this one feels a bit "tired" and somewhat recycling some old stuff.Overall, not the finest mcNab: if this is your first foray, pick one of the earlier Nick Stone books - they are superb page-turners and really enjoyable thrillers. This one is not bad, in fact, he's still one of the finest thriller writers around - but, exactly because of that, one comes to expect superior stuff from someone THAT talented!

A good, quick read
The usual taut action thriller that Andy McNab has become known for but with a subtle deeper display of the emotional side of his characters. A good, quick read, difficult to put down.

Can'y really recommend.
Mr. McNab's books have gone down hill rather drastically. Can'y really recommend.

A good read
A good read plenty of action from the person who has lived it I like Andy who makes a good writer having walk the walk and talk the talk.

Silencer ( 15 )
Nick Stone does lead an exciting life, and this is not going to let you down. Action and adventure are in the best of hands. A very good read.

Enjoyable, but who wrote this?
I have read every preceding Nick Stone book and thoroughly enjoy them all. At times this one felt like it was written by someone else other then Andy McNab. It's interesting to see that a lot of other reviewers felt the same. Ghost writer I suppose. Quite early on I got the distinct feeling that the style of writing was different. I love Andy McNab's raw and clunky style; it's what make the books and the character so real, we dont need Nick to start being funny and witty. I've just bought the next book in the series and really hope it returns to the norm.

Brilliant read.
This is another brilliant book from this talented author. Nick is chasing a friend Katya who has been abducted & taken to China to be cut up & her parts sold to buyers of kidneys, lungs , hearts & marrow. He travels to China via Hong Kong to find her before they cut her open. This then takes him to Mexico where a drug gang have her against her will.

I enjoyed it but it's not up to the standard of most of the others.
I enjoyed it but it's not up to the standard of most of the others. The plot is a bit thin as far as his mate having lived in the Mexican fortress and knew the place like the back of his hand. The climax is a bit of an anti climax and the very end is a bit odd. Other reviews have mentioned that this one may have been ghost written and I wouldn't be surprised. I have read the first 15 Nick Stone books in about a month and have enjoyed most of them enough to give them four or five stars. They flow so easily. Not this one.

Not worth it
Awful book. I expected more from this author, as I have many of his previous books, but this is just drab. Not sure I will buy any more from Andy Mcnab, as it appears he is getting others to write his books, and they are just soo watered down with infill and clap trap. Not enough action, only read it half way through, that was enough

Another great adventure!
Another enthralling encounter with Nick Stone, sees him tangle with Russian, Moldovan organised criminals, Mexican drug cartels in an action pact romp. Delivered in Andy McNab's laconic, witty style, the pace never slackens, throughout! A great whirlwind tale, recommended!
