It appears to be very rust resistant BUT beware this is a real cheap can opener and it broke for me after I open 2 cans with it. The wheels didn't mesh any more. I spent $16 at the grocery store and got one that was going to last. You almost have to turn them in your hand before you can see if the handle - wheel - mesh mechanisms going to be something that will last. My last can opener lasted 40 years and is still working pretty well. I thought I could get one that is smoother, and I did at the grocery. I'd advise not buying this one. Best of luck.

Q: There is no name on it to show it's from gorilla grip. stamped "made in china" only. problem later how to do you identify the manufacturer?

For the amount I was only concerned that it works. I have used several times with no issues. However, I am willing to pay more for product made in USA.

Q: Is there also a smooth edge on the lid that comes off the can, or just the top of the can itself?

Works well, just the top of can comes off.

Q: Is this for left handlers?

I just have to say that with any of my can openers, I've been able to use my left or right hand interchangeably. I don't see why you couldn't with this one as well, or with any can opener. Just the position of whether maybe it's on the side or on the front or where you hold it might be different.
