I'm writing this review 8 hours after I turned it on. Therefore I can't make claims to longevity and other issues that I need some time.As for the first 8 hours though- Yes!!! It's late August as I write this. I just got a new house. Overall it's good, but the basement was muggy. In just a short time, it feels a lot better when I go down there. I get that's not measurements that anyone can use other than as an opinion.With the understanding I still don't know what everything means, the number on the machine went from 57 to 46. I'm figuring that's the humidity. I'm estimating 90 oz of water has been taken out of the air. That number is based on I've emptied the tank 3 times. The first time it was almost full. A full tank is 50 oz, so I'm figuring 40 was what I dumped. Then I emptied it 2 more times. This time I had a 15 oz can, which was filled almost twice the next time I emptied (another 30 oz), and then a touch over 1 can (approx 20 oz) the third time I emptied.For right now, it's fun to see how much water it collects. Eventually I'll just run the hose and let it drain into the sink. I've bought a few other things for the house. I haven't gotten them yet, but if they work as well as this I'll be a happy camper.Add on- I've had it about a month now. I went to edit my review, and see that I never submitted my original one. Anyway, I see how excited I was when I got this. I'm going to keep the 5 star rating, but I want to add that I borrowed my brothers dehumidifier a few days ago. Now there's 2 of them side by side.He has a 50 pint machine. The two are sitting side by side in my basement. His collects water at about a 3 or 4 to 1 rate as my machine does. Both with the same setting of 50. I am still happy with my dehumidifier, but knowing what I know now, I would have spent a few more $$ to get a bigger one.
