An incredible read
I have had several friends and a few family members who have worked in emergency services and have always been mesmerized by their stories. The career is something that has always struck as being both a calling and a great ongoing adventure. I have often wanted to experience this to an extent but am a bit lazy so limit my experiences to the pages of fiction. This is the first memoir-type book that I have picked up on the life of a paramedic and I don't think that I could have picked a better one."Paramedic: M.O.S." is an incredibly well-written description of what living the emergency services life is like in the most bustling city in the world - NYC. Author C.B. Garris takes the reader through his own experiences of being a paramedic in New York City, from the very beginning with his training until he makes the tough decision to give up the strenuous life after suffering injuries from an in the line of duty accident. There are some very real and touching stories in this book that make the daily life a paramedic both relatable and almost superhuman. While I had respect for these people before, it has gone through the roof after reading some of these stories. One of the things that struck me the most about this book is the way that many paramedics seem to give their entire beings over to this profession, and oftentimes pay a very high price for doing so. Many end up having emotional, family and other issues and, while the job may be rewarding beyond measure, it comes at a high personal cost. Fantastic read.

An Inside Look of the Daily/Nightly Life of a EMT and Paramedic
Heroes may come in all types of forms. When 9/11 occurred, our whole world was shaken up. From police to firemen to the New York Paramedics, this situation changed countless lives. There are, however, heroes that have gone unrecognized to the public eye. I agree with the author when they say that those men and women are the EMT's and Paramedics who rushed to the scene should be known.Author C.B. Garris brings to us the inside look into the lives of these men and women who save lives day after day. It is shocking to learn in this book what they endure on a daily basis when it comes to the job. They go through so many emotional, mental, and physical strain that I was wondering how do they do it all then go back to work the next day to do it all over again. I wonder why the media haven't spoken about them more! Politics should not matter, nor red tape.If your loved one's career is in this field, read this book. If you are looking to go into it-same goes for you. Everyone needs to learn about these unrecognized heroes!

Hmmmm, I respectfully disagree
This had the makings of being something great. First, let me say that I'm grateful for the author's service in a thankless profession. I'm also grateful for his obvious knowledge and commitment.I'm moved to review this for two reasons; 1) please, people, please. With the advent of e-books, many great stories are lost under poor editing, poor grammar, and poor spelling. Yes, the book is about so much more. But if the author cared so much to take the time to write this, why not present it in the best possible way?2) EMS and healthcare, where the unsung heroes practice. And they are heroes. With that said, heroes don't need to write a book about how they are heroes.I'm so very saddened by what could have been a great book falling prey to the author's need for self aggrandizement and apparent lack of need for editing. This has some great parts and goes a long way toward explaining life in the trenches. But it could have been so much more.

Amazing book by an incredibly gifted author. Everyone must read this book! You will not be dissappointed!
Paramedic MOS is unlike anything I have ever read. The author exceptionally provides you the raw reality of life as a Paramedic in NYC. I could not put the book down! At times I cried, then roared in laughter and connected with the characters in an emotional way I did not know was possible. Christian has opened my eyes to the world of a Paramedic in NYC. My desire to be a better human being has been ignited by this book. It is life changing in the best possible way. You, Christian, have an incredible gift, thank you for sharing your gift with the world. I look forward to reading more from C.B. Garris.

Eye opening book! Loved it
Paramedic M.O.S. is a great book about what it is like to have the career of an emergency service professional. It is a ride of emotions from stressful, emotional, and achievement. However, this profession is so necessary for the world that we live in today. This book is so important because it gives us insight in the profession. This is amazing especially if you know nothing about the job. There are some profound thought provoking stories in the book that really touches you deep. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read this book because now I have a new appreciation for the profession.

At last, a book written FuBu for us by you
It was an amazing, page turning read. I worked within NYC EMS and later FDNY after the merger. I lived it and I still could not put this book down. Finally it is so rewarding to read about life on the streets of NY from a personal and oftentimes heartbreaking perspective. Too many of our MOS hide their feelings behind their badge because, really, how else could they do their job day after day? How brave of this author to lay bare all that we strive to keep secret?

You nave GOT to read this book!
Very accurate and descriptive life of a Paramedic. Laymen do not know what intensive training goes with the job. It is an extremely stressful job. You see things you never want to see in your entire life, but you do the job, then go on to the next job. The public does not even know how many suicides have been caused by the job. It's about time everyone knew the truth.
