Great tool and not expensive

JCB 1700WI needed this to break the concrete around a rotten fence post so I could fit a spur support. I managed to break through around 400mm depth of concrete reasonably easily. I found the machine heavy in use but the handle arrangements were good. bear in mind I am in my late 70's and not from a construction background.Unlike other reviewers my outer plastic case arrived unbroken although there was some slight damage to the outer cardboard box. I found the outer box difficult to handle as it has a glossy finish and no hand holds for picking up. A couple of binding straps around the package would have been a help.I have docked a star from the overall rating as the instruction booklet is poor. There is an oil filler cap shown on the illustration but nowhere in the manual is the correct oil to use mentioned. Also the manual states the unit must be returned to a service centre for the motor brushes to be changed, yet two replacement brushes are included in the packaging!Overall I am pleased with the product. It will not be subject to heavy use but has a three year warranty anyway.

The JCB cardboard box is not strong enough, therefor the cheap plastic case within gets damaged.Internal plastic shell (pre-formed to the breaker and some parts) is not made well, there for any impact/knock and internal goods move.On arrival the box was obviously dinked' on each corner showing signs of carless handling. Once opened, it could be seen the corners of the case were split and one hinge parted. Inside, the spare brushes were broken as there was evidently no protection from the heavier loose items loose within.I requested for a return - and money back this was accepted. I immediately bought another - that also was delivered with damage box and split case: this was not accepted and taken back by the courier.Meanwhile the original had not been collected by Amazon (delaying my refund)Amazon were contacted and very nice lady arranged for a fresh return/pickup ...that also has not happened when promised - further delaying the refund (just before the weekend) The pickup courier said we were not in? In short, a load of Bol'@Ks - they never turned up and/or made themselves known at the door :(

I was a little sceptical about buying this as it's really hard to find any reviews.I have always used a sds drill to dig out fence post at work, and decided to upgrade, I'm glad I did as this broker will pay for itself in no time .I can't judge it against any other breaker ,as this is my first, but If you are thinking of making the jump from a sds drill then absolutely recommended and it has 3 years guarantee.

Easy to use and very effective

Heavy duty does the job

extremely low quality. overheating after 10min of work then you need pause for 1h. after 2 days of usage aslo fall in parts. bolts fall off - nee be tighten every 2min. Product returned , refund received.

More powerful than expected solid build broke concrete pad up in no time seems like will stand test of time.
