These Vile Secrets (Enclave)

Okay first of all i love this books as much as a love Follow the river books! let’s talk about Rome i was not a fan of him when he made his first appearance in Rain & River books so when i read the reviews on this book i gave it a try and i was not disappointed at all i fell in love w Rome his heart is so big and when he loves he gives it his all. in this book we get to see all of him and the way him and Hale just fell for each other even though Hale fought it made it all worth it. I love Hale as well he had a rough childhood after being an orphan and i’m glad him and Rome found each other. This does have a happy ending in a way not the one i was expecting but at least in some way the end up happy and in love despite everything i really wish we could get a book 2 with a better happy ending but i also very intrigued w the other 4 member and i wish we could get more books of this Ash & Kaede would love to read there story! overall i give this book a 4/5 very well written!

The writing was fantastic just like her other two books! After reading The River of Rain Duet and finding out that we were going to be getting a book with Roman's story I wasn't sure how we would like him after everything that happened. Just know that C.E. Ricci did a hell of a good job redeeming his character. I love him so much even though I disliked him in the other books. What I adored most about Roman is the way he didn't ever give up on Hale (his love interest) he constantly wore his heart on his sleeves even though he knew it would get him into trouble. Hale was the opposite he was too closed off which was painful to read at times, but I still loved him. I highly recommend reading this book! It had some beautiful, heartbreaking and spicy moments! - I was suppose to receive an eARC , but I never received it since I had to exchange my kindle for a new one. I apologize for the delay of the review.

This first book, which I hope will eventually develop into three more in the Enclave series, is a continuation of “Follow the River.” The Enclave, itself, is an engaging storyline. I’m glad for Roman to find the love he deserves.

I have wanted to read this book for years, and I finally got the opportunity and it did not disappoint.

We got to know Roman in the "River of Rain" series and honestly? We all kinda loved him! And most definitely intrigued. Roman seemed to be such a strong, direct and passionate man who was caught up in such a freaky secret world where he simply had no choice for the trajectory of his life. Now Roman has his own book!! And it was sooo good!!! But, for me... I found certain scenes difficult to read, not to give too much away but anything more then two is such a crowd. It felt like nothing was sacred only because we know about the sad unrequited love Rome was dealing with before this book. (I mean, wasn't it time he had someone all for HIM alone?) Not to mention the particular blaze` treatment or reactions to certain... eh hemm... "crimes" nope ... not a one bad reaction... but it didn't detract at all from the story in my view. The reality of Roman's life was sadly inescapable, and was emotional to read about. My overall review is that it was a genuinely solid read. My personal favorite: the shout out to MBTI (which no one can really know unless you study the cognitive functions and forget the letters :P)

Loved the story of Rome and Hale. Kinda hated Rome before loving him in this book. Wish the series came back with a HEA. Or at least a novela with some good news on the couple!

Mmmmk….what happened to “Tailored Espionage” Book 2 of this series that was promised December 2021??? Roman is a key figure in the River of Rain Duet series and THIS is his story! PLUS, we finally get closure for Roman, Rain, and River! I thoroughly enjoyed this book on many different levels. The Enclave, a secret society that’s been operational since the medieval nobility is an integral and intriguing aspect of this Series. Roman and Hale, unfortunately, don’t get a HEA, but a HFN with the author’s promise of more about them in the subsequent books in the series…which for some reason, have not been forthcoming. This book ends with a ‘prequel’ chapter of Tailored Espionage, which is Asher’s story. My mind is still reeling from all of the unfinished plot twists revealed in this book. It’s an excellent book with a lot more of a spy thriller vibe than most of this genre.

I am torn apart, in shambles after having finished These Vile Secrets. As other reviews have stated, I put off reading it because Roman is such a frustrating mess in the River and Rain Duet (which you MUST read before this, if you didn’t already know), but this tore me apart even MORE than the duet. Roman just wants to be LOVED like he loves, and I’m so happy he got his own story. I have read many of CE Ricci’s books, and this is probably my favorite. UGH now I have to go heal from this Jesus Christ

I'm in love with this book. Beautifully written with characters that couldn't help falling for each other despite Hale fighting his attraction for Roman.. Can't wait to read the other books in the series

Wow, no pude soltar este libro hasta terminarlo, me enamoré de Hale y Roman! La verdad que CE Ricci logró crear una historia con una trama intrigante, sociedades secretas, romance con escenas spicy e incluso te ríes con los personajes. Ahora, estoy intrigada por el resto de los libros de esta saga y los demás protagonistas. Recomendado!

This was one of my most anticipated releases of the year and it didn't disappoint! Roman and Hale's story can only be described as a tornado. It sucked me in so bad, I stayed up until the early hours of the morning reading it. This book answers some questions but God it leaves you with so many more. It is the first real dip into the world of the Enclave and the secrets and twists are guaranteed to leave you speechless and breathless. I didn't think it was possible but I love Roman with all my heart. I'll admit he wasn't my favourite when he was introduced in the River of Rain duet (if you know you know😜), but Chelsea managed to show me this special, beautiful side of him and I fell like a fool. It's impossible not to. And Hale couldn't be more perfect for him, even in the beginning when they want to rip each others heads off. These Vile Secrets is full of memorable moments, from jaw dropping ones to emotional and bittersweet. The story is unexpected and the perfect start to the series. It will leave you with the mother of book hangovers.🙈 Can't wait for the next one!!!

I was conflicted about how I’d deal with the enigma of Roman. All I knew going into this read was Rain loved him, so he had to be redeemable right? This is a totally different feel to River and Rain, and not in a bad way. To top those two was going to be a hard feat in itself. As a reader, I fell in love with their story, and pretty much base my six star unicorn reads on them and seriously ask, can anything beat them? TVS is certainly on par and in itself, obviously a totally different theme heading into the depths of the Enclave. I respect and agree with the author wholeheartedly that a review should not give anything away, it would only detract from a fantastic read. I loved both Roman and Hale, once again Ms. Ricci drags you into her world and spits you out totally, emotionally wrung out by the end. While the first in a new series, your reading experience will be greatly improved having read the duet prior. Ms. Ricci is certainly one of my favourite authors this year.

Slow and long- winded, hardly a plot in this story and the internal monologues are boring and scenes are repetitive. And the reference to Hitler is an absolutely no go. Especially when Roman says he prefers Hitler above Lucas (in comparison to Lucas being intimidating). Excuse me? There are 10 million ways the author could have used a better comparison than using Hitler.
