Keyless Entry Remote Car Key Fob Shell Case 3 Buttons Pad Replacement Fit for GM Colorado GMC Canyon Isuzu Hummer (Black)

I have a 2004 Chevy Colorado. The transmitter still worked but the plastic case was broken where the key ring goes through. So it would not stay on a key ring. I bought this replacement. Just looking at the new replacement case, it looked identical to the original. However, it is apparently very slightly different. Specifically, the round slot in the plastic case where the round battery inserts is apparently very slightly deeper on the new case. I assembled the new case with the original electronic transmitter and a new battery, but it did not work. I knew the transmitter was still good so I figured there was apparently something making the battery not make a good connection. I cut a very thin round plastic spacer out of polyethylene…..the same size as the battery. I inserted it into the battery slot and then inserted the battery on top of it. This served to elevate the battery and reduce the clearance between it and the transmitter. This solved the problem. I installed a new 2025 battery because that is what was in both transmitters that I have. I suppose the transmitter may have been designed for a different battery and maybe a previous owner may have switched the type of battery??? Maybe a different model battery is slightly thicker???

I tried multiple times to get this to work. Thankfully one reviewer suggested using your old buttons. Once I did that, it worked fine.

The buttons are a little sticky and don't always return to their neutral position.

I have to say this is a hit or miss. I have bought 4 replacements since between now and last year. One broke within a month. The second wouldn't allow me to push the buttons properly. The third was fine for 4-5 months. The 4th one seems to be breaking at the top after 1 month of usage. I don't have anything other then the ignition key on the keychain with the remote.

Appears to be an exact duplicate of the original. Price is far less from this source than the same part from a dealer.

The unlock button is very soft and tends to depress or stick. Also, the hole for the keyring started breaking after just a month. The OEM one stayed together for years!

The loophole for the keychain tends to wear through on these fobs, but replacing the fob case is easy and cheap compared to getting a whole new unit and having it reprogrammed.
