Let’s start off by saying that this is a really fab looking lamp and it comes with a rotary dimmer fairly close to the lamp end. The black ‘webbing’ or ‘cut-out’ look is very striking!The bulb supplied is a visible filament / element type and, as some people have said, it doesn’t dim linearly but gets ‘stuck’ at the dimmer end and then brightens slightly just before off.We decided we wanted an opal bulb as the individual filanents can be a bit bright to the eye at night in a bedroom, so we invested in a Philips Master opal dimmable one (albeit one that’s slightly brighter at max). The added bonus is that this dims properly, ie roughly linearly and goes very dim just before the off.So, the odd dimming effect is probably the bulb and not the dimmer switch (although the dimmer is an inline one that could be easily swapped for an alternative if desired).Conclusion fantastic lamp, but buy a quality bulb to get the best out of it (Philips also make visible filament bulbs).

Nice lamp for the price, however, the bulb is scrap. Bought a new bulb and it works fine. Seems to be the common theme with these lamps so bear that in mind before purchasing.
