I recently got into 3D printing, where there's a regular need to measure in mm. But my brain still works in inches and fractions when I'm hanging a picture frame etc. So I found myself looking for a quality measuring tape with both metric and imperial that was a) small enough to store in my tools & accessories drawer, but b) not so small that I can't easily read the tape. And this checks all my boxes -- it feels solid and sturdy (not cheap/sloppy), and I've measured dozens of items without having trouble reading the tape. Looks sleek too. Plus I really like the feature that it doesn't auto-retract -- pull the tape out and it stays there (no need to push anything to prevent retraction), and then it retracts nice and snappy when you press the button.

The tape quality was great, sturdy and all, smaller than a lot of tape measures I’ve used which is great because it’s easier to clip onto a belt and such. No clunky extra features or anything, just a great tape measure that can be used for anything.

I love it. Perfect size, nice and small, yet is still fairly heavy duty feeling. Definitely solid and I can picture it lasting awhile. The tape could be a little thicker but honestly I didn’t expect it to be in such a small measure. It’s easy to read and for the price I think it’s a smoking deal. I have so many large clunky tape measures that I literally never use anymore because this one is just so convenient (unless it’s something over 10ft, that’s where this one caps out at). My favorite feature is the ‘auto lock’ meaning it always locks in wherever you pull it out to then you have to press the button to release it, rather than the other way around. You never realize how convenient that is until you have it. 10/10 would buy again. I literally migh; I could see myself having these placed all over the house.

I recently lost an old, small tape measure that I carried in my purse. This is a nice replacement, though it is slightly larger and heavier than the one I lost. My only real complaint is that it's black rather than silver or a bright color. It's hard to find in my purse. But the tape works beautifully and is very easy to read because of the high-contrast black on white and the size of the numbers and marks. It has a good locking mechanism. If they come out with a bright yellow one, I'll buy another!

If you need a lightweight tape measure to use often, this is an excellent tape measure. Sure you can get one for $3, but using this multiple times a day makes me appreciate the design, RecommendedUpdate: after using this a while, I do not find it to be easy to read for precise measurements. The reason is that at every foot, there is a very large icon that blocks the 1/16th inch marks for ± 3/16" around each foot mark. Dinged it one star for that. Very easy to read incorrectly if something measures near a foot marker (1', 2',...).Update 2: I bought a second one on sale. First one I stepped on the tape and it bent and remained creased.
