Finally, the right brace
This is by far the best brace for my Dequervain’s tenosynovitis! There are so many braces I tried, and none of them offers the support and comfort of this brace. As soon as I tried it on, I knew I found the right one. It’s lightweight, sturdy, and holds my thumb in the correct position to aid healing. It’s sleek and not bulky like the other braces out there. A lot of times, I forget I have it on because it’s so comfortable. Definitely worth every penny!

Fits perfectly
Splint fits perfectly, comfortable, snug, best of the many splints I’ve bought. Had left thumb revision basal surgery. It feels, better in this splint then the softer ones. Would recommend

Disappointed
This brace does give me support right where I need it. However, the edges were quite jagged and sharp and it scratched me the first time I put it on. I had to use fine sandpaper and an Xacto knife to make the edges smooth. Also, the part where the strap feeds through is very weak and fragile and I only used it a few days before it gave out. Now I have to try and figure out a way to keep it together. Because this is a medical product, and because of how much it costs, I expect better. Whoever designed this product needs to do a better revision of the product and whoever is in charge of quality assurance may want to review their quality control policies and procedures. UPDATE: I've now only used the brace 4 days and already the Velcro is coming apart because it's glued and not sewn. Now I have to deal with that. It's sad that I can't leave a better review because this is the only brace I've found that supports where I need it, but the quality is extremely disappointing.

Definite stabilization, and definitely hard plastic
The device fits as measured, and definitely stabilizes my thumb joint. The included jersey sleeve is essential, as the brace's edges are quite hard and will dig into your hand and especially around the end of the thumb if there's no protection. It came with an extra piece of stick-on foam tape with no instructions, so I put that around the thumb opening, which turns out to be a bit tight. There's a second piece of foam tape well placed at the base near the wrist. This product will definitely stabilize movement, but it probably not the best if you're also using your hand for lots of motion: that's a reasonable trade off, and one buyers should be aware of. Braces that allow more comfortable motion simply don't provide as much stability.

Doesn't Immobilize CMC/Saddle Joint
Since I'm between sizes, I ordered two. Neither of them worked at immobilizing my CMC joint. Using the smaller brace, which fit me like a glove (very nice fit!), it was still possible to move my thumb about 1-1/2 inches back and forth (with the velcro wrist strap tightened firmly, but to a tolerable level). If the velcro wrist strap was tightened to the point of serious discomfort, it was possible to immobilize my thumb to where it could only be moved back and forth about 1/2 inch. But nobody, myself included, would ever be able to tolerate this level of wrist strap tightness.I do like the product in theory, however, because it's the only thumb brace that lets you get your hands wet without a problem. The materials are excellent. I think the manufacturer needs to make another version with a longer cuff, say two inches longer, with a second velcro strap. Doing so would truly stabilize the thumb and make this three star product a five star winner.A couple of points: 1) go by the size chart provided by Amazon in the picture. The size chart provided in the included brochure is wrong. You can even go to the BraceAbility website and see that they concur with what's shown on Amazon. 2) if you're close to being between sizes, you might want to go for the larger size because it will give you some wiggle room where the thumb tip comes out. You would then be able to line the inner circumference of the brace's thumb with a narrow strip of moleskin to keep chafing at bay. (I did get some chafing just below my thumb knuckle/IP joint on the same side of my thumb as my thumbnail). As it is, this brace will protect your thumb from blunt forces, inhibit your thumb from extreme extension, and remind you not to use your injured hand. For me, that's not enough, as much as I admire the concept, the design, and the choice of materials.
