A Fun read
ou Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty is a deeply emotional love story about a young woman seeking joy while healing from loss while discovering herself as a person. It’s been five years since the accident that killed Feyi’s husband and she’s almost a new person now—an artist with her own studio, and sharing a brownstone apartment with her best friend, Joy, trying to leave her past behind. She’s even started dating the perfect guy, but their new relationship might be sabotaged before it has a chance. This new life she asked for just got a lot more complicated, and Feyi must begin her search for real answers. Can she release her past and honor her grief while still embracing her future? And, of course, there’s the biggest question of all—how far is she willing to go for a second chance at love? What I expected was a light, fun, tropical romance but this was an intense and moving story of love and grief. Emezi’s writing is both intense and beautiful. The plot of this book, though with the well-established trope of forbidden love, was still unique in the way it was structured. Emezi does a great job capturing all the complicated emotions that make the story feel really like the depiction of trauma and loss or grief.Still reeling from the death of her beloved, Jonah, Feyi is an emotional mess and prone to making mistakes after mistakes, but you can still relate to her character and her actions as her past becomes clearer. My main issue was with the romance. Personally, the romance seemed more about attraction and another Insta-love and I just couldn't connect to it. Since romance is the core of the novel, not connecting to the romance definitely made it less enjoyable to me. The journey from attraction to love felt too rushed and just didn't quite work for me. The second half got repetitive after a point and the ending felt extremely rushed. Many questions were left unanswered, the book wrapped up without resolving any of them or giving any closure to the characters or the readers. In the end, this was a beautifully written story. I'm not a big romance reader and still, I liked reading this book. Mainly because this wasn't a typical romance book with a set formula or cheesy dialogues. The book explores the themes of grief, friendship, and love in a unique manner which made it refreshing to read. This is a slow-burn, sometimes messy story and if you love romance, you will like this one.

A lightweight romp
Sexy Mills and Boon for the 21st century. Beautiful people falling for more beautiful (and successful .... and wealthy) people in beautiful surroundings .... I actually did find the sex scenes funny.Pity, because the drama and feelings in Feyi's story (surviving the accident that killed her husband and trying to build a life again) are described in earnest by the author and the writing in these brief sections is not bad. They are however obliterated by the silliness and superficiality of everything else in the book. So, if you want to read a mindless paperback on the beach and not wanting to flash an Harlequin cover, this might be the book for you.

🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 loved this
It helped get into some of the corners of my soul and heart that needed an airing out. Whilst others say it’s not deep enough, I found lots of meaning in the moments of healing happening for the two characters towards the end. So much about how to hold space for your feelings and how to own and process them (particularly after grief). It felt a little unhealthy at the beginning but came full circle to something that begun to feel more wholesome towards the end (albeit a bit “fairytale” like). It also taught me how to live through fear. I felt this more than anything as a theme. This is what reading is about for me. I like my deep stuff but sometimes you just need a book to help you “feel” and this did that. It was like watching twilight all over again - pure escapism and I found myself reading it late into the nights and early mornings. It’s also salacious in parts and that helped too 🤣 as well as the humour. This spoke to me so it’s one for my favourites lists and definitely for a reread again. Loved it xx

Amazing!
This book wrecked me, in the mist delightful and amazing way. I started it and couldn't stop, every character lept straight off the page in all their complex, messy, human realness. The writing is gorgeous too, whether its the lyrical prose depicting grief or the superb dialogue between Feyi and Joy (who I need to read so much more of! Please she needs a book or two or four!)A beautiful and impactful read

full of emotions
Great writing and so descriptive. I was laughing with the dialogue one minute and almost crying the next. Also a fantastic way to write art and music. Thoroughly enjoyed in 3 days!
