Highly recommended and good insurance against an unlikely Ebola outbreak...
As a long time consumer of thousands of milligrams of ascorbic acid daily in *tablet* form, I was enticed to purchase this ascorbic acid powder after reading the best single article on ascorbic acid that I've ever read: "Can Vitamin C Cure Ebola" by Steve Hickey PhD, Hilary Roberts PhD, and Damien Downing MBBS, MSB, Orthomolecular Medicine News Service, August 20, 2014. The authors state that aside from purchasing expensive I.V. sodium ascorbate treatments, ascorbic acid in powder form is more effective than any other form of *oral* Vitamin C (and is actually twice as effective as any mineral ascorbate [sodium ascorbate, calcium ascorbate, etc.]). This ascorbic acid powder is also the least expensive form of Vitamin C available and contains no fillers. I had never tried ascorbic acid powder before (though I have tried sodium ascorbate crystals) as it had just been more convenient to purchase ascorbic acid *tablets* at my local big box store. Hickey et al recommend drinking ascorbic acid in water with a straw to avoid any teeth issues due to the slight acidity. I've noticed that because ascorbic acid powder has no fillers and because it is in powder form that it is much more quickly absorbed into the body and that I require less of it to produce the same effect as a larger amount of ascorbic acid *tablets* would provide (you know your body is approaching Vitamin C saturation by the tell-tale 'bowel tolerance' symptoms that Hickey et al describe in their paper). I also notice that any 'bowel tolerance' symptoms are much milder with ascorbic acid powder than with ascorbic acid *tablets*. From what I've read about ascorbic acid it can be easily taken up by many of the body's tissues without having to pass through the gut as long as the ascorbic acid is not bound in a tablet with its fillers. So I theorize that ascorbic acid in powder form is being absorbed and utilized by the body as soon as it hits the back of the the mouth, whereas much of the ascorbic acid in *tablet* form is not delivered and available to the body until it hits the stomach or intestines. This is why I think 'bowel tolerance' symptoms from ascorbic acid powder are much milder than with ascorbic acid *tablets*. Related to this, you can use ascorbic acid powder externally as a paste or dissolved in water for skin issues (you can read more about this in other reviews or on the DoctorYourself website). I've tried doing this with some success in the past by grinding an ascorbic acid tablet between two spoons -- the results were not very amazing. However, I've had much better results with a paste made from ascorbic acid powder. I have a small area on my face that gets red in the summer and stays brownish in the winter. After applying ascorbic acid paste on the area every other day for about two weeks the area is fading away, which I think is quite amazing. The only negative thing I can say about this product is that it's impossible to keep the zip-lock closure closed. Fortunately this is easily remedied using a clothespin or two. If you're worried about Ebola, read the article above, purchase a few kilograms of this ascorbic acid powder and set your mind at ease. UPDATED 3/12/2015: After using this powdered form of ascorbic acid for over a year after using a popular tablet form for over 10 years, I can say that this product is far superior to the tablet form. And the last two packages I received had zip-lock closures that actually worked. :)

Has Multiple Uses. Dissolves Easily In Warm Water
I am definitely going to be buying from this company again. This stuff is awesome and serves multiple purposes, used for skin mixed with glycerin some even add it skin cream, Aloe Vera gel to use for skin and hair, put a little bit it in hair conditioner and shampoo, I have a friend who does this with vitamin C oil. I am a tartness freak I added a bit to some lemon aid it dissolved easily and tasted good. Yes this is weird I know there are actually people who use this to remove hair dye I thought they were kidding me but it worked. I am new to this never used the powdered version before and look forward to trying the many uses of it. DISSOLVING it this is easily done with hot tap or very warm water Acne and oily skin Freaking awesome I mixed some of this with liquid body soap and have been washing my face with it it killed the acne removed the heavy build up of oil and cleared my skin, plus the way it cleaned my pores it was like I had used a facial mask, hehehe acne got it's butt kicked smiles evilly. I used the same mix in the shower makes an excellent body cleanser as well. I know this is weird I used it like toothpaste it stripped the plaque right off, I wouldn't do it all the time because of the acid Hair dye remover Holy crap it actually works, I was told mixing vitamin C with shampoo removes hair dye I tried an experiment after cutting my hair I made a swatch mixed equal amounts of the vitamin powder with shampoo made a mix with the same thickness as hair conditioner. I coated the swatch with it put it in a plastic cap covered and left it sit for a while. about half an hour later I came back and it had removed a good amount of the dye. It will not remove heavy layers of dye with one time but it removes a decent amount, NOTE it does dry hair out but conditioner fixes that. Then if you want afterward you can use [Color Oops] hair dye remover Update April 28 2015. toe nail fungus I had a toe nail turned milk white which means a foot fungus in some cases the accompanying stench is most foul, I tried an experiment I put 2 table spoons of the powder in hot tap water in a foot basin soaked my feet for about 1 hour. later after done soaking I dried them off and noticed the white color had faded a lot by the following day the nail was clearer. Salt can also added with the Vitamin C powder with no problem. Afterward I did put pure lemon oil on the nail to help keep it sterelized and clear lemon acts like a bleach it fades freckles so I knew it'd help this

One of the best for liposomals
I love BulkSupplements vitamin C. Its pure, easy to use, and has so many applications for healthy living; from making liposomal C, to facial and skin creams, to healing bath waters with the vitamin c and magnesium, salt, etc. It even makes a great throat spray, and if mixed with a bit of baking soda and distilled water, a very good nasal spray. VC neutralizes pathogens on contact by donating its electrons (all pathies are A. positively charged and B. hoarders of electrons, but VC wipes them out via peaceful neutralization. Vitamin C is a miracle from God for countless health related issues, and our family has benefitted greatly from it. Recently found a neat way to concentrate the liposomal C and receive more benefit with much less icky aftertaste. First, you take a quart size jar and add it 10 tbs of sunflower lecithin powder, then add to that 4 tbs of the Vitamin C powder. Add about 3 cups distilled water, cap, and gently shake. Let the jar sit in the frig overnight and shake vigorously in the am. viola, it liposomes itself. You can still plop it in the ultrasonic for 10-15 minutes if you wish, but its great if your in a pinch and don't have time. We have tried it both ways and can barely taste a difference. Plus, only need about 1 oz instead of 2oz, which is nice and can make it last a bit longer in between batches. I really appreciate the purity and good price of Bulksuppliments, as well as the freedom the powders give to be creative and try vitamins in different ways. Well, time for that relaxing vitamin c and mineral salts bath. To your health.

Great for Oral and Topical Use
I typically purchase NOW Vitamin C crystals. Recently I switched to BulkSupplements Vitamin C because of the good price and Amazon Prime shipping. I am almost finished with my first 1kg bag so I ordered a second bag. I mix my oral vitamin C with half the amount of baking soda in water so the I do not get an upset stomach from the vitamin C. I could buy sodium ascorbate instead but adding baking soda to my Vitamin C is very easy and inexpensive. I used to take ascorbic acid in water but found that it irritated my stomach too much. The baking soda takes care of the stomach irritation. I stir the mixture until the bubbling stops, then drink. The BulkSupplements Vitamin seems to be high quality like the Now Vitamin C crystals that I used to buy. I also make topical Vitamin C for daily use along with my oral vitamin C. Several months ago I was trying to make liposomal vitamin C. It never worked well for me orally but I started using the product on my skin and liked the results. I think it must oxidize a little on my skin because my skin color looks a little more tan which I really like. It also works well as a light lotion and I no longer need regular lotion on my arms and legs. My current recipe is two tablespoons Vitamin C power, 1/2 cup filtered water, 1 tablespoon soy lecithin, and the contents from a couple of Vitamin E capsules. I use a hand blender to mx and store in a glass container in the refrigerator. Adding the lecithin and vitamin E increases the pH slightly but it stays below the magic 3.5 number that supposedly makes topical C absorb into the skin. I have read that vitamin E makes topical vitamin C more effective so I add it. The vitamin C and lecithin dissolve completely with the hand blender. My mixture is a light yellow color and gets used up before it oxidizes. I have tried sunflower lecithin but it is difficult to work with and I do not like the brown color I get with my final product (my sunflower lecithin is brown). I have used plain ascorbic acid in water on my skin in the past but did not like the results as much as I do now with the lecithin and vitamin E. I hope to try adding hyaluronic acid to my mixture next.

Good and cheap
Bought this for my dogs medical condition (urine crystallization) and it was superseded by another treatment so I decided to take the vitamin C ascorbic acid every morning my self, so much cheaper than buying over-the-counter vitamin C pills as this bulk pack will last forever. PS ~ 1/3 tsp ~= 1111mg vitamin C dose.

Excellent product that really works
I've used Vitamin C as a supplement for thirty years and have always reopened on it to help keep my health in top condition. This product is a loose powder (bulk) in a plastic/foil bad with a zip closure. It just doesn't get simpler than this. Its easy to use and I can scoop the exact amount of Vitamin C and put it into a fresh veggie/fruit juice I make at home. In the summer I use 5 grams a day and in the winter I bring it up to 8 or 10 grams a day depending on how sick everyone else is around me. It takes time to build up tolerance to these levels so take it slowly, please, and since the bowel tolerance is discussed ad nauseum on the net I'll not rehash it here. More importantly is that when I received it I realize that I could use this product for an entry new purpose and this is really the focal point of this review. The city I live in had changed the water treatment from Chlorine to Chloramine (a combination of chlorine and ammonia) years ago. I previous had chlorine filters so that the toxic chemical would not bother me but chorine is a very small molecule and chlorine filters just don't filter it out at all. I started noticing dryness and itching all over my skin even though I drink lots of water every dat and take fish oil supplements every day. No water purification system on the market would take out the cloramine except the super expensive ones that are just not affordable at this time. Then it dawned on me that I had read articles about people in Japan and San Francisco using Vitamin C to treat their water. I did my research and found that chloramine is alkaline (a base) and Vitamin C is an acid. If you add an acid to a base, it gets neutralized and becomes inert. Most acids are hazardous to humans but Vitamin C is safe, and necessary, for us. I guess I could have tried an experiment to try vinegar but then I would smell worse wen I got out of the tub so I didn't try that. I did try a quarter teaspoon of this purse acerbic acid (Vitamin C) in my batch water, bathed in it every dat for the past several weeks and I have had no problem with the chloramine irritating me at all. This is a great solution because Bulk Supplements on Amazon is the only place where I can get large bags of vitamin C powder so I can sprinkle in exactly how much I need, and no more and its so much less expensive this way. Its the perfect solution for me. There is no fragrance although when I first pour the vitamin c into the hot water, a tiny amount does fly away and I can smell/taste a little but its a refreshing citrus taste that is barely noticeable and is rather pleasant, so its just not a problem. I'm now highly recommending this product to everyone and have added it to my permanent reorder list.

Shake shake shake your way to beautiful younger skin!
FANTASTIC skin improvement supplement! Google DIY face serum and this is a must have ingredient. BulkSupplements Pure Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) is HIGH quality powder with a very reasonable price-tag, that comes in a mylar resealable pouch, and is now a staple for my facial regimen. Try this recipe I found on fairviewfarmlife(dotcom) 1/2 tsp Ascorbic Acid; 5 tsp. rose or distilled water {this is important as the high oxygen content in tap water will cause the Vit. C to break down faster.}; 3 tsp. almond oil; 1/2 tsp. olive/jojoba/coconut {basically any carrier oil}; 3 drops geranium essential oil; 3 drops lavender essential oil; {I add 1/2 tsp. of Hyaluronic acid which I also buy from BulkSupplements, and when using distilled water, I sometimes sub rosehip oil in place of the geranium}. First mix the Vit. C crystals with the rose OR distilled water. Stir frequently until completely dissolved. This may take up to 20 minutes, but you want to make sure you don't have a grainy mixture. Also, do not heat the distilled water. Heat will cause the Vit. C to break down and you want the maximum effectiveness on your skin. Add the rest of the ingredients and then stir until mixed well. Then carefully funnel into a 2 oz. small dark dropper bottle {You need a dark bottle as the light can cause the ascorbic acid to lose potency}, and shake shake shake your way to younger, more beautiful skin. I phrase it that way because you really need to shake it up! It may take a couple of days to completely rid the serum of the gritty feel, but after that you'll get a magical solution to dry, aging skin and the proof will be in the mirror as well as the compliments you will be showered with. Please note, if you follow this recipe, do NOT double as it will only keep for up to two weeks. After that, the serum loses potency. Ascorbic acid breaks down fast and you want it to be super fresh for maximum absorption. Shake it up before each use, and apply at night after cleansing and follow up with a moisturizer. VOILA! Before you know it you'll be looking years younger and have a spring in your step because of it! Here's to OUR youth!

Pure Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) Powder 500g
I've wanted to try a vitamin C facial serum for a long time, but the ones I've found were so expensive. I found a recipe to make your own that wouldn't cost an arm & a leg. I also read that you need to use the "ultra fine" powder, so I ordered this & received it today. I have already made my first batch & it turned out great! You DO have to dissolve your C powder in water first before adding your glycerine & it took less than a minute of stirring for it to completely dissolve. I've already tried it out & there was absolutely no grainy feeling at all, so I'm very pleased with this! I'm also going to be adding some to my smoothies as well for the added health benefits. I will add the recipe below for the ladies who want to save a lot of money & make their own serum. I received this product on the date promised & it was carefully packed very well. I would definitely recommend this company & this to anyone wanting to make their own & save tons of money! This bag will last me forever because you use to little. Vitamin C Facial Serum Start out with a 5% & gradually move up to a higher strength. You might feel a stinging at first, but if it's to bad, just lessen the amount of vit. C until you get adjusted to it. Ingredients: 5% Serum 1/4 tsp. powder 4 tsp. distilled water 3/4 tsp. glycerin 10% Serum 1/4 tsp. powder 2 tsp. distilled water 1/4 tsp. glycerin 15% Serum 3/8 tsp. powder 2 tsp. distilled water 1/8 tsp. glycerin 20 % Serum 1/4 tsp. powder 3/4 tsp distilled water 1/4 tsp. glycerin Mix your C powder into the water until it dissolves. Then add your glycerine. (personally I only added half the amount of glycerine & used aloe vera gel for the rest) And that's it! Quick & easy! This will only keep for a week as any longer will cause it to oxidize, so you need to make a small batch each week. It needs to be stored in a dark bottle & away from light or heat. I'm keeping mine in the refrigerator, but you can store it in a drawer too. Sterilize your bottle first. And should you notice your serum has turned yellow, that means it has oxidized & is no longer productive. Even if it does, this powder cost so little & will make SO much that it's no big deal to make another quick batch! I will definitely by buying more bulk products from them, as it's so much cheaper & you get a good quality product!
