5 Stars, well deserved...
I have books on the art of copywriting from just about everyone who matters, and Breakthrough Copywriting is one of my favorite books on the topic. David Garfinkel is often referred to as 'the world's best copywriting coach,' and for a while I wondered if this was a just a persona that he'd created for himself. But after reading this book I'm perfectly happy to concede to him this title.David has a unique ability to express his wisdom and experience with simplicity and clarity. As the former President of a teacher's association, I can say with confidence that David has all of the hallmarks of a great teacher. But as a professional copywriter, I can also say with confidence that David really 'knows his stuff,' because it's evident right here in his book. There are tons of expensive courses on this topic, but few of them will give you more actionable information than you'll get in these pages for less than ten bucks.

No wonder he's called the world's greatest copywriting coach
There are a lot of hotshot copywriters out there. But even the best-of-the-best do not know how to teach the craft. David Garfinkel makes this mysterious art easy to learn and, he teaches it to you fast. Really fast. As in 100 pages and you will be better at writing ads if you implement his tips than people who have read 100 books who don't implement anything. I'm a big fan of David's techniques (they have helped my ads tremendously) and when you're done reading this book you'll realize he's not called the world's greatest copywriting coach for nothin'

This book takes complex information and makes it incredibly easy to understand
The thing that amazes me about this book is how the author can take such complex information and make it so incredibly simple. If you need to learn about copywriting, rest assured, you won't have to sit there constantly googling all the jargon. Breakthrough Copywriting is the perfect name because now I really understand all those concepts I struggled to grasp before.Do your business a favor - anyone can benefit from learning to write good copy.

There are 3 books on copywriting that I believe in:
This one and John Carlton's, "Kick-ass Copywriting Secrets Of ...", and, "Copywriting For The Rest Of Us", by Mike Shreeve. I was reading, "Breakthrough Copywriting:.." today and found that I am extremely hopeful of learning more than I bargained for. It is an easy read, but pay attention and absorb the material and do the work. If you are like me, you will also pick up Mr. Carlton's and Mr. Shreeve's work and go through these books. Read Mike Shreeve's book first if you are new to the business. I will edit this note with a full review from the perspective of a newbie, for newbies.

It IS a Breakthrough.
Insightful only begins to explain how I felt after reading this book. Its like I wasn’t reading it—it was speaking to me.Every time I had a question pop up, an answer or explain action shortly followed as if David Garfunkel knew what I was thinking and directly responded.Going into this book, I knew very little about copywriting but now I feel like I snuck away with a book of knowledge, a cheat sheet, a map that shows me the way to becoming a better copywriter.

Great book but with too many up-sells
Let me first state that this book is legitimate and the author has lots of good advice for the novice copywriter. If someone were to ask me if I would recommend this book to them I would say yes. However....I got the feeling sometimes that the author was just trying to up-sell you on his other copywriting courses and coaching services. For instance in chapter 5 the author says: "The solution to quickly writing effective headlines even when you don't have extensive experience is with Copywriting Templates™." and then he provides a link to a $29.95 course (the course ships with physical DVDs... I haven't owned a PC with a CD drive in 6 years!). David also links the reader to another course of his that costs nearly $500!Things like that rub me the wrong way.David goes over all the elements in writing effective copy but does not tie them all together with finished examples, just bits and pieces. I would have loved to see an example of an actual ad he ran for a client, in its entirety. I believe this book would be a total GRAND SLAM if he included his "Copywriting Templates™".Overall this is a good book and worth the purchase if you are a copywriting newbie but be aware of the up-sells sprinkled about.

Dense
I liked it. I liked it a lot. No blabbing. Get's right to the point. Good for someone who seeks template copy, template headlines. I myself LOVE creative approach to copywriting. I have done it professionally for almost a decade and that book still expanded my creativity a lot. Or should I say - that book helped to bring out best from my creativity, cause it gave me really good insight what exact words to choose, where to use them in my copy and when.It truly is so ... It's not what you say, but how you say it!I'm a killer copyrighter now, if you don't feel like reading this book and becoming one, contact me via [email protected] and I write copy for you! ;-)
