Q: what is a good budget subwoofer to pair with the 1280dbs? advice please.

I bought the Dayton SUB-800 for a hundred bucks, placed it under my computer desk. Pretty solid results. The sub was a bit underwhelming at first but it's performing better and better with break-in time. I built stands for the Edifiers to get the tweeters at ear height on either side of a 27" curved monitor, toed the speakers inwards for best sound. With the Dayton sub it's a very, very satisfactory near-field sound system for about $240.
