this works okay. I think it could have a better edge on it, but after resharpening it did just fine. I think the handle is pretty with its layers of different colors. But sharpness and staying power are more important to me.

I have trimmed my own horses’ and mules’ hooves since I was a teenager; I am now a 70 year old woman. It’s hard work. I tease that hoof trimming is probably part of what keeps me fit and healthy but hey, it’s hard work. VERY hard work. Dull, old tools make it all the harder and quite frankly, I’m at an age that I like “easy” better than “hard.” I currently have six animals to trim.This knife is razor sharp and helps to make quick work out of the task. The handle feels comfortable in my hand. I cannot speak to how long it will last—that will depend on how many horses, mules or donkeys find their way to our home and need care. But I’m happy with it at this time. $23 for a quality hoof knife is extremely reasonable.

When it gets hot and dry outside the hoof knife that I have leaves a bit to be desired so when this came up I thought it might help with that.- The packaging wasn’t bad, it just looked pre-opened?-The knife was in perfect brand new shape though.-The wood they used for the handle is very nice looking and very solid.-The curve of the handle makes a perfect grip for light and heavy duty cutting.-As for sharpness and cutability this thing was amazing! It was able to go though parts of the hoof that usually when it is that dry and hard I can’t get unless I soak it first.It made doing hoofs go so much smoother and simpler. This is definitely a high quality tool, I have seen more expensive ones not perform this well.

I received a left handed one quality looks good and it's sharp but I can only use it in certain situations I'd use it loads more if it was right handed.

I really have to nitpick to find negatives with this hoof knife, and the only two I can come up with are the lack of a lanyard hole or any easy way to attach something like that and just a little bit of burring on the blade -- however I can easily knock that off and even with the minor burrs this knife is really sharp out of the box. The blade is polished to a mirror finish and the handle is practically art. The knife is a beautiful tool and fits my hand perfectly. For form and function I'd give this hoof knife 10 out of 10. As I said, to come up with any negative is really just nitpicking.
