I really like this mortar & pestal set but the one thing that is missing is directions to season it before first use. Thankfully as I was looking for these sets I saw that they need to be seasoned before first use and saw how to do it. But someone who is as unfamiliar as I wouldn’t know that you need to add water to it first and use the pestal to remove the granite dust and bits of granite. I refreshed the slurry water multiple times and did this for about an hour. I then let it dry and added some rice and worked it for 45min - 1hour to make it into powder, then added a small amount of water to make a paste and pick up the remaining rice dust. Then wash it and let it dry. Then I used some garlic, cumin, onion and cilantro to get the flavor in. The spoon and/or brush are helpful to get your paste or powder out. Since there were no instructions you may not realize that you should not use soap to clean it but only water. I would have given 5 stars if it had some good instructions with it. If you know all this already, it appears to be a great product!
