I love this potato masher
This is such a good design. It takes hardly any muscle power, and mashes potatoes in no time at all. I way prefer this design over wire potato mashers — they were always wobbly, and took a lot of muscle. This also takes up less space than a wire masher, or a mixer for that matter.Granted, I like my mashed potatoes to be more coarse than light and fluffy, so I haven’t tried to see if I can get it to that consistency. Without trying, I almost got there. So you might be able to get the more traditional light texture with a bit more mashing and incorporating with a fork and extra cream. Either way, I can imagine making a big batch of mashed potatoes with this masher, without getting tired.

Lovely but Needs Design Improvements
This is lovely, well made, and does the job. Although the photo is misleading, as the color is not vibrant. It is unfinished, which was disappointing. It would have been so much better had it been finished with a penetrating "salad oil" finish (specially made food safe finish for wooden products that seals wood). Also frustrating are the groves. They are too sharp and narrow, which makes it difficult to clean. You literally have to eat out every inch of every groove, rather then just quickly washing it. They are there to keep the masher from building a suction the traps it, but again the shape of the grooves were not well planned. They need to be a rounded shape "U" at the peek, not "V" and perhaps a tad wider.

Handmade In A Factory but good Quality
Nice solid potato masher. Needs some kind wood sealant on it to protect wood and finished. Thought it would be more rare since only one available and I was buying it. Right after I purchased it 12 more instantly available. Little pricy for the number available. Over all feel a little duped but still happy I have the potato masher.

Much nicer than the one pictured!
Posting this review because the masher matches the description but not the picture, and I wanted to post accurate pictures. 8" and very nice- much better looking than the one pictured. I bought it to make german potato soup where I mash the ingredients through a strainer. I need something very heavy duty and quite wide without holes in it. I haven't used this yet but it seems to be a lot sturdier than the last masher that I had used and which broke.

A handcrafted item of beauty.
This is a beautiful, hard wood, solid piece. If you appreciate wood and wood grain, you’ll find it a thing of beauty. If fact it’s so pretty I decided not to use it for what I bought it for, mashing cooked beans. I didn’t want to get it wet. Instead I hand rubbed it with mineral oil and now I admire it.

Gorgeous and worth twice it's price
Love love love this piece. It's smaller than expected but that is a plus in my eyes. It's fairly petite size is a great deal to what gives its charm and appearance. Made from one piece of olive wood it's chunky and hefty for a small piece of wood. The one I received is gorgeous and unique as they all will be since olive wood varies in pattern. I doubt I will use it in the kitchen because its such a great display piece.

Grogeous and functional
It is as beautiful as the picture! It is heavy and feels like a solid piece of wood. It doesn't require too much effort to smash garlic - the weight of the smasher does the work. So happy I bought this.

Pretty and versatile
I love the way this looks and feels. I have used it as a mallet to crush ice and to crush garlic. And as a masher, on potatoes. It is very versatile, and everyone who has seen it wants one.
